It’s official: Ryu and Roy are coming to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS.

While the characters themselves aren’t a surprise thanks to data that previously outed their existence, confirmations of both certainly are. Clips for the two characters leaked out in the early morning about an hour or two ago. Take a look at both below.

Unfortunately for Nintendo, the leaks don’t stop at characters. We have a first look at Ryu’s stage, as well as an Inkling Girl trophy. Supposedly, Dreamland 64 is coming to both versions of Smash Bros., and new music tracks include Rhythm Heaven’s Blue Birds and Monkey Watch.

The source of the leak apparently stems from an early patch that went live in Japan. All of this content may possibly be available for download starting tomorrow!

Thanks to Timz117 and dimweat for the tip.

Masahiro Sakurai’s latest Famitsu column has now been translated in full. Two big topics were addressed in his piece: those who say Sakurai has a bias for certain characters, and overall game balance.

When it comes to Smash, every once in a while people will wrongly direct their anger towards me. They accuse me of things such as giving preference or strength to the characters that I’ve worked on in the past—in other words, the Kirby and Kid Icarus series characters. Oh my.

However, if I had worked on the Mario series, people would say, “You’re favoring Mario too much,” wouldn’t they? The same would hold true for Fire Emblem, Pokémon or Starfox. The truth is, though, I put a lot of work into all the characters. It’s a mix of labor, love, and fine tuning.

A new Smash Bros. presentation will be held on June 14, Nintendo has announced. Masahiro Sakurai, director of the Wii U and 3DS games, is leading the proceedings.

Here’s the breakdown of relevant times:

– 7:40 AM PT
– 10:40 AM ET
– 3:40 PM in the UK
– 4:40 PM in Europe

In an announcement sent out to the media, Nintendo says Sakurai will be outlining the details of Lucas’ inclusion in Smash Bros., the new Miiverse stage on Wii U, and Mii Fighter costumes inspired by Splatoon. It’s unclear what else – if anything – will be shown.

Nintendo has released a handful of screenshots from Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS showing the new Splatoon Mii costume for Mii Fighter (Gunner). Additionally, we have images of the Miiverse stage from the Wii U version as well. Find the full set of screenshots below.

Nintendo has announced that Lucas is coming to Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS on June 14. He’ll be available for purchase starting at 11 AM ET / 8 AM PT.

Nintendo confirmed via Twitter today:

Additionally, the Japanese Smash Bros. Twitter account states that the Miiverse stage on Wii U and Splatoon costumes for Mii Fighter should be releasing on the same day:

Nintendo has revealed a new costume (along with a corresponding hat) for the Mii Gunner in Smash Bros., which is coming to both the Wii U and 3DS versions of the game. This one is based on K.K. Slider from the Animal Crossing series.

In Japan, the costume will be distributed via 7-Eleven between June 19 and July 11. Players will need to visit their local outlet with their 3DS system.

The K.K. Slider costume also seems to be heading west, but the Smash Bros. website simply lists a “TBD” date for its availability.
