A look at one of the returning modes today, Sakurai talks about some of the details of the Smash staple classic mode:

After each battle, the fighters that lost get blown away!! The fighters remaining on the field will once again team up with other fighters on the field. You can actually choose fighters you’ve blown away to join your team in team battles. A rival will always appear in this mode, and the longer that character survives, the stronger it will get.

When Sakurai said there’d be a lot more customisation options compared to the 3DS version he wasn’t messing around, here’s just one of the many combinations that are on offer:

A look at some HD trophies today, Sakurai teases some of what’s on offer with the home console offering:

There’s more talk going around about Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS potentially supporting DLC.

Messages have apparently been found in the 3DS version that could be used to create data for downloadable content, for instance. Other recently-discovered code could allow for character and stage DLC to be loaded.

Rumor has it that the shop will be titled “Notifications Shop” – at least in Japanese.

Will any of this pan out? Will Smash Bros. actually get any DLC? Only time will tell…
