Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

The third and final wave of online finals for the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate North America Open 2019 tournament will be held today. For those that are interested, all of the matches can be watched through the live stream below.

Note that this is the final wave of online finals before the ultimate final tournament at PAX East 2019. The winners of today’s final will join the winners of the first and second online event finals in the PAX Arena at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center on March 30. Moreover, the collective winners from each region will form teams to play Squad Strike in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at the PAX East finals.

As a new weekend dawns upon us, so does a new Spirit Board event within Super Smash Bros. Ultimate — this time themed as “Green Is the New Black”.

The themed event is planned to run all weekend and will include Spirits Queen Metroid, Celebi, and Link (The Legend of Zelda).

Nintendo has announced the latest Smash Bros. Ultimate Spirit Board event. This week, the theme is “Green Is the New Black” where green-colored spirits will be appearing. Take them down to earn more gold than you normally would.

The Spirit Board event should kick off on Friday. Look for it to last a few days as usual.

Last week, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate director Masahiro Sakurai published one of his regular columns in Famitsu. This time around though, it wasn’t really Smash Bros.-related. Sakurai took on a few fan questions, but there was really only one part of the column that was noteworthy.

When initially going into Smash Bros. Ultimate’s Classic Mode and selecting the intensity, players are treated to a gorgeous mural showing off the game’s large roster. One fan asked Sakurai about how that art was created.

Nintendo has pulled back the curtain on the latest Smash Bros. Ultimate Spirit Board event. This week, the theme is “Taking the Lead” where spirits from racing games will be appearing. By defeating them, you’ll earn more Spirit Points than usual.

The Spirit Board event should kick off on Friday. Look for it to last a few days as usual.

Two Nintendo-related tournaments are taking place today. Players from four regions across North America are competing in the second wave of online finals for the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate North America Open 2019 tournament. Additionally, the online qualifier finals for the Splatoon 2 North America Inkling Open 2019 are also happening in which eight teams will compete for the four team slots advancing to the final event at PAX East in Boston. The Japanese magazine was back at it again for its latest issue, catching up with the developer once more about various aspects concerning the Switch game. Nickelodeon has posted the nominees for the 2019 Kids’ Choice Awards. We’re interested in one category in particular – that being “Favorite Video Game”. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Super Mario Party are nominated in addition to LEGO The Incredibles, Just Dance 2019, and Marvel’s Spider-Man.

The 2019 Kids’ Choice Awards will be hosted by DJ Khaled on Saturday, March 23 at 8 PM ET on Nickelodeon. You can vote for the various nominees here.
