Taichi Inuzuka

Dragon Quest Monsters new game

Dragon Quest Treasures producer Taichi Inuzuka spoke to Japanese magazine Famitsu in this week’s issue about the origins of the game as well as the future of the Dragon Quest Monsters series.

Inuzuka described the new title as a “reboot” of sorts after feeling that Square Enix “put in everything we could think of” for Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3 Professional. The team became interested in the concept of using an open-world and went from there. Some fans will be happy to hear assurance from Inuzuka that Dragon Quest Treasures doesn’t mean the Dragon Quest Monsters series is over.

As Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3 launches in Japan, Famitsu sat down with producer Taichi Inuzuka for an interview. We have a summary as to what Inuzuka shared with the magazine this week.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3 is the third entry in the series on 3DS. The team previously wrapped up remakes of Terry’s Wonderland 3D and Dragon Quest Monsters 2. After this, Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii asked the team what game should be made next. The choices were between Caravan Heart (originally came out on GBA), a professional version of Dragon Quest Monsters 2, or a brand new game. In the end, they decided on Joker.

Square Enix is developing a new Dragon Quest Monsters game, the company has revealed.

At the Dragon Quest Summer Festival held at the AiiA Theater at Tokyo this weekend, producer Taichi Inuzuka teased, “We’re working on a new Dragon Quest Monsters game, and its competitiveness will be as fun as always.”

Inuzuka said that information about the new Dragon Quest Monsters game including platform for release will be announced soon.
