Along with today’s screenshot, Sakurai passed along the following message on Miiverse:

That item that brings victory one step closer…the Smash Ball! Of course everyone wants it! Come to think of it, I haven’t introduced any of the Final Smashes yet… Then again, if I introduced every single one, it’d take over a month’s worth of posts.

Image & Form will be bringing its next SteamWorld game to GDC 2014 in some form, the studio has confirmed.

On Twitter, Image & Form said that the company is at the event “to secretly discuss the new game.” SteamWorld’s new entry is “coming along”, and is reconfirmed for release this year.

GameSpot has put up a bunch of new comments from Big Red Button Entertainment’s Bob Rafei. For the most part, Rafei’s his pertain to the new character designs in Sonic Boom.

A new Wii Sports Club update has hit Japan today, which adds a total of nine new holes for the game’s golf section. What’s particularly interesting is that all of the holes come from Wii Sports Resort. The update is free, and I doubt it’ll be too long before it reaches North America and Europe as well.

In its monthly NPD response, Nintendo revealed that Wii U sales increased by 25 percent in February compared to the year prior. That statistic allows us to determine a rough estimate of the number of consoles the company sold across the US last month.

So how much did the Wii U sell? About 82,000, based on the calculation. That’s not a whole lot, but Nintendo seems to be pleased that sales are up as a whole.

Don’t count on seeing Snake in the new Super Smash Bros. games.

Hideo Kojima briefly touched on the possibility of the character returning for the Wii U and 3DS titles during a live-stream event held earlier today. He essentially shot down the idea, noting that he doesn’t think it’s likely to happen.

Kojima’s comments in full:

I’m not working on that game so I don’t know, but I don’t think that’s likely. I don’t know. Well if Mr. Sakurai is watching this, please use Snake.

Nintendo has issued its monthly response to the latest NPD report. Last month, Wii U and 3DS both experienced positive sales.

On Wii U, hardware sales rose by 25 percent over the same month last year. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze sold 130,000 copies between physical and digital sales. In total, Wii U software sales are up 180 percent over the same month in 2013.

3DS also saw an increase in software sales – 25 percent specifically. Bravely Default was a success for Nintendo having sold over 200,000 copies in a little over three weeks.
