Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle

As we know, Ubisoft announced its latest financial results this past week. We have more information from the call that was held after the initial report was posted.

Early on in the call, Ubisoft said that Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle outperformed its own forecasts. The game is also once again confirmed to be the best-selling third-party title on Switch.

It was also pointed out that the growing / successful install base on Switch should have many benefits for Ubisoft. As a result, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is expected to have a longer than usual sales curve.

Julian Eggebrecht is the president of Factor 5. You may not be aware of this, but he’s also the vice president of technology at Hulu.

It was almost a funny coincidence that Eggebrecht appeared on this week’s episode of Nintendo Voice Chat from IGN. He largely talked about Factor 5, but also had a bit to say about the new launch of Hulu on Switch. Hulu just made it to Nintendo’s console on Thursday.

When asked why Hulu didn’t appear on Switch until now, Eggebrecht explained:

When a new game launches, fans tend to pick apart the files and codes in hopes of finding hidden secrets. That’s exactly what happened this week with Sonic Forces. Dataminers went to work and found a couple of interesting things that could be added to the game in the near future.

First, a “Sanic” t-shirt has been found. Sanic has become a meme over the years after one fan drew his interpretation of the character in the Windows Paint app. It would be… interesting to see that design in Sonic Forces, to say the least.

Many years ago, during the Wii era, Factor 5 worked on Star Wars Rogue Leaders: Rogue Squadron. Unfortunately, it never saw release. Now all of these years later, Factor 5 president Julian Eggebrecht wants to see it return.

In an interview on IGN’s Nintendo Voice Chat, Eggebrecht spoke about his aspirations of wanting to bring Star Wars Rogue Leaders: Rogue Squadron to Switch. For those who are unaware, it was a compilation featuring modified versions of Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader, and Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike under a new graphics engine at 60 frames per second and new content.

Here’s what Eggebrecht had to say about a potential Switch release:

Capcom’s status has a bit unclear when it comes to supporting Switch. However, Capcom COO Haruhiro Tsujimoto has made it clear that the company is planning games for the consoles.

Tsujimoto told Jiji that Capcom will have Switch games intended for release with the next fiscal year. That means we can expect to see titles after April. According to Tsujimoto, Ace Attorney is one big IP that we can expect to see on Nintendo’s console.

Nintendo lists Hulu as one of today’s new releases on Switch. The official page is currently offline, but it should be up by the time the eShop updates later today.

In the past, Nintendo has mentioned that video streaming services would eventually come to Switch. It looks like that’s happening sooner than expected.
