LEGO Marvel Super Heroes

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes is making the jump to Switch, Warner Bros. Interactive and TT Games revealed today. A release is set for October 5.

Two pieces of DLC will be included: Super Pack and Asgard Pack. Here’s an overview of both:

LEGO City Undercover may feature an open world, but it’s not overly comparable to Grand Theft Auto. It turns out that this was intentional.

During a recent episode of the Bits N’ Bricks podcast, lead animator Matt Palmer mentioned, “One thing we were keen to try and avoid was it becoming a Grand Theft Auto game.” Rather than being violent, the team “constantly stepped back from things and just made sure that we were looking at the fun and the funny element of what we could do.” That lead to elements like the grapple gun.

Palmer explained:

LEGO City Undercover

LEGO City Undercover was a pretty big deal when it first appeared on Wii U close to a decade ago. It was planned as one of the system’s first major games, and was even published by Nintendo.

In a recent episode of the Bits N’ Bricks podcast, lead animator Matt Palmer and LEGO Group producer Darryl Kelley spoke in-depth about LEGO City Undercover’s creation. We also get to hear about Nintendo’s role. According to Kelley, the company was “very, very involved” – including development itself.

Below are Plamer and Kelley’s full words:

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

When LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga was first announced, it was targeted for a 2020 launch. Warner Bros. and TT Games would later push things back to Spring 2021.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is now seeing a second delay, with TT confirming that the title won’t be making it out this spring. A new release window was not provided.

A statement from TT reads:

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

A few new LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga tidbits have surfaced from this month’s issue of OPM. The magazine details the amount of playable characters, areas, and more.

Previously, we heard that LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga would include close to 500 unique characters. It seems that this amount has increased over the past year.

Here’s the full roundup of tidbits:

LEGO City Undercover

If you had any interest in picking up the digital versions of LEGO City Undercover for Wii U or LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins for 3DS, you’re out of luck. Nintendo quietly pulled both titles from their digital storefronts recently. A reason for their removal was not provided.

LEGO City Undercover for Switch, which is largely the same as the Wii U version, can be bought digitally on that system without any issues. However, The Chase Begins was a bit of a different experience, and there’s no way to access the game from the 3DS eShop any longer (unless you bought it previously). However, it’s true that physical copies are still out there in the wild.

Nintendo published LEGO City Undercover on Wii U and 3DS originally, so it’s possible that some sort of license expired. Warner Bros. directly handled the Switch version.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes

The original LEGO Marvel Super Heroes could be making its way to Switch. That’s based on a new rating from the ESRB, which added in the database listing this week.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 came to Switch in 2017. Wii U received the first entry back in 2013, but it never found its way to Nintendo’s current console.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

It was announced last week that LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is seeing a rather significant delay. Rather than launching this year, the game is releasing in Spring 2021 instead.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will be distributed in two forms. Fans will be able to purchase a standard copy or the newly-revealed Deluxe Edition. With the Deluxe Edition, you’ll be getting six DLC packs in a Character Collection bundle: The Mandalorian Pack 1, The Madalorian Pack 2, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Classic Characters, Solo: A Star Wars Story, and Star Wars: The Bad Batch. Luke Skywalker is also featured with a LEGO minifigure.

You can pre-order LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Deluxe Edition on Amazon, Best Buy, or GameStop.
