The Wii U Pro Controller – A Blatant 360 Ripoff?

I know you wanted to say it when you saw the image.
I know you took a look at those rounded grips and those smooth analog sticks and the first thing that came to mind was “Great, Nintendo’s copying Microsoft”
But don’t. Don’t go there. Don’t you judge Nintendo for this. I know you want to, but don’t.
You see, I’m slightly ticked off at all of the people scoffing at Nintendo “copying” Microsoft’s Xbox 360 controller with the recently revealed ‘Wii U Pro Controller’. Now, I’m going to- for the sake of Microsoft’s remaining dignity- ignore the fact that Microsoft just fully revealed “SmartGlass” (which is a blatant Wii U ripoff/response) and instead make a carefully crafted set of counterpoints that will prove just how stupid and unfounded your claims of unoriginality are.
Let me run over a quick list I’ve compiled for you.
– Avatars copied Miis.
– Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale copied Super Smash Bros.
– Playstation Move and Xbox Kinect copied the Wii.
– Rayman Origins, Ratchet and Clank All 4 One, and every other 4 player platformer copied New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
– Kinect Sports is a blatant ripoff of Wii Sports.
– Every platformer in existence has taken most of its pages out of the Mario guidebook.
– Fitness games wouldn’t even be a ‘thing’ we had to deal with if it weren’t for Wii Fit.
– Adventure games all come down to Zelda.
– The Red Ring of Death is just a 21st century version of NES games not starting up properly.
– Every controller in existence has copied Nintendo’s own N64 analog thumbstick.
– The 3DS is just a blatant ripoff of the Virtual Bo– Wait a second.
But seriously. To those of you complaining that Nintendo is being unoriginal: Stop being idiots. This is an industry of copycats, and Nintendo tends to be on the forefront of coming up with interesting new ideas. Does this mean they’re flawless? No. Remeber the Vitality Sensor? Or Wii Speak? Or the PowerGlove?
Part of being the guys with all of the awesome ideas is that you’re also the guys with all of the stupidass ideas.
And sometimes, just once in a while, you need to copy someone who wouldn’t even exist without you anyway.
