Posted on October 6, 2021 by in General Nintendo, News

Universal Studios Japan and The Pokemon Company have announced a new partnership for new attractions to Universal’s theme park in Osaka, Japan. The new pokemon-themed additions have not been specified, but the first of these attractions is scheduled to be open to park guests sometime in 2022. Here are the details we know so far:

Much like Universal Studios Japan partnered with Nintendo for their Super Nintendo World expansion on the theme park, it seems The Pokemon Company is also teaming up. This collaborative effort so far doesn’t seem to be linked directly to Nintendo World and may have its own separate attractions. Universal Studios released this official statement announcing the partnership:

Universal Studios Japan and The Pokémon Company will enter a long-term partnership to jointly explore ground-breaking entertainment that will immerse guests into the world of Pokémon with innovative technology and creativity beginning in 2022

Leadership in both Universal Studios Japan and The Pokemon Company also had some input on the future of this endeavor. From Universal Studios Japan’s president and CEO, J.L. Bonnier:

We are honoured to have a long-term partnership with The Pokémon Company while developing ground-breaking Pokémon entertainment at Universal Studios Japan for both Pokémon fans and our guests

And The Pokemon Company CEO and president Tsunekazu Ishihara stated:

The incredible team at Universal Studios Japan have the creative vision and leading expertise in world-class theme park technology to imagine a uniquely Pokémon experience.

No specific details on attractions have been revealed yet, but we will keep you updated as soon as more information arrives. The first attraction for this partnership is currently planned to be available in Osaka’s Universal Studios theme park in Japan in 2022.
