Following today’s Pokemon Sword\/Shield Expansion Pass presentation, The Pokemon Company passed along an announcement recapping all of the news for The Crown Tundra. A new set of screenshots and art are available as well.<\/p>\n

Today, The Pok\u00e9mon Company and Nintendo announced that The Crown Tundra, the second set of downloadable content for the blockbuster Pok\u00e9mon Sword and Pok\u00e9mon Shield video games, will launch on October 22. In The Crown Tundra, Trainers can explore a vast, frigid landscape with jagged, snowy mountains and drifts of glittering snow. The Pok\u00e9mon Sword Expansion Pass and the Pok\u00e9mon Shield Expansion Pass are available for purchase in Nintendo eShop. Starting on November 6, Trainers will have the opportunity to purchase bundle packs consisting of the Pok\u00e9mon Sword or Pok\u00e9mon Shield base game as well as that game\u2019s corresponding Expansion Pass, which includes The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra. These bundle packs are well suited for Trainers who have yet to embark on their journeys in the Galar region.<\/p>\n

During a video presentation, Tsunekazu Ishihara, president and CEO of The Pok\u00e9mon Company, also unveiled newly discovered Pok\u00e9mon, new game features, and exciting in-game bonuses for Pok\u00e9mon Sword and Pok\u00e9mon Shield or the Expansion Passes, as well as updates to Pok\u00e9mon GO.<\/p>\n

Newly Discovered Pok\u00e9mon<\/p>\n

Galarian Slowking
\nCategory: Hexpert Pok\u00e9mon

\nAbility: Curious Medicine<\/p>\n

A Shellder bite set off a reaction between the chemicals secreted by Galarian Slowpoke\u2019s brain and the spices inside its body, causing Slowpoke to gain the Poison type as it evolved into Galarian Slowking. Galarian Slowking have been observed uttering incantations in order to communicate with each other and appear to chant mysterious spells when using moves in battle. Galarian Slowking\u2019s Ability, Curious Medicine, is a new Ability introduced in The Crown Tundra.<\/p>\n

Gigantamax Melmetal

\nAbility: Iron Fist<\/p>\n

While Gigantamaxed, the Mythical Pok\u00e9mon Melmetal can use its flexible and elastic liquid-metal body to land punches even when opponents keep their distance. Steel-type attacks used by Gigantamax Melmetal will change to G-Max Meltdown, a powerful move that slams opponents with shock waves and swirling liquid metal. This move doesn\u2019t only deal damage to opponents\u2014it also prevents them from using the same move consecutively.<\/p>\n

Dynamax Adventures<\/p>\n

In Dynamax Adventures, players will team up with three other Trainers to explore a Pok\u00e9mon Den where Dynamax Pok\u00e9mon are said to lurk. Instead of their regular Pok\u00e9mon team, players and their fellow Trainers will choose Pok\u00e9mon that they can temporarily use for battle (rental Pok\u00e9mon) to bring along into the depths of the den. Players will have to work together with their three teammates in a Max Raid Battle whenever they encounter a wild Dynamax Pok\u00e9mon during their exploration. If they win the battle, players will have the opportunity to catch the Pok\u00e9mon, and one Trainer on the team can swap the newly caught Pok\u00e9mon for the Pok\u00e9mon they had before. Trainers can delve even deeper into the den with Endless Dynamax Adventures, which enable the player to continue until they lose a battle.<\/p>\n

Legendary Pok\u00e9mon<\/p>\n

With The Crown Tundra, Trainers will be able to encounter every Legendary Pok\u00e9mon that\u2019s appeared in the main series of Pok\u00e9mon video games. Players can find\u2014and catch\u2014Legendary Pok\u00e9mon during their travels in the Crown Tundra or while they\u2019re on Dynamax Adventures.<\/p>\n

Special Event with Pikachu<\/p>\n

To celebrate the launch of The Crown Tundra, there will be a special in-game event for players to receive eight different Pikachu for their teams. Beginning Tuesday, September 29, and up through Friday, October 30, Trainers can find special passwords in various places including the Play Pok\u00e9mon Twitter feed, and the Pok\u00e9mon Trainer Club e-mail newsletter. When Trainers enter the passwords into their Pok\u00e9mon Sword or Pok\u00e9mon Shield game, they can obtain Pikachu\u2014and not just one but eight, each donning a different cap. Connectivity between Pok\u00e9mon GO and Pok\u00e9mon HOME<\/p>\n

In addition to news about The Crown Tundra, The Pok\u00e9mon Company also announced that connectivity between Pok\u00e9mon GO and Pok\u00e9mon HOME will be available by the end of the year. This will allow Trainers to send Pok\u00e9mon they\u2019ve caught in Pok\u00e9mon GO to Pok\u00e9mon HOME. From there, some of these Pok\u00e9mon can be brought into Pok\u00e9mon Sword or Pok\u00e9mon Shield.
