Zelda Tears of the Kingdom UK sales milestones

Some initial tidbits have surfaced about The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s sales performance in the UK, and the game is off to what sounds like a fantastic start.

Tears of the Kingdom is already the eighth biggest Zelda game of all time having already outsold Skyward Sword, The Wind Waker, and A Link Between Worlds. Note that this is based purely on boxed sales – digital data from Nintendo is not reported. Had digital been factored in, the debut for Tears of the Kingdom could be even higher.

Hogwarts Legacy was previously the biggest boxed game release of the year in the UK. However, that honor now goes to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Sales for the Switch game are nearly a third bigger than Hogwarts Legacy. Hogwarts Legacy may have had a bigger digital launch than Zelda, but that’s tough to tell since, once again, Nintendo doesn’t share eShop data.

Tears of the Kingdom is already the fourth biggest Zelda game of all time when it comes to revenue. It’s just a little behind Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess.

Tears of the Kingdom managed to earn a launch that was 173 percent biggest than Breath of the Wild. However, it’s not the biggest Switch release ever – that still goes to Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet. Tears of the Kingdom was a bit below that.
