    wow! 9 for M+R!?
EDGE is really loving the switch recently.

  • Rafael Bueno

    7/10 for Sonic Mania?
Keep in mind they given ARMS a 9/10, a not that great game…

    • Stephen Yap

Agreed. ARMS was good, but 7/10 is pretty much the highest I’d give it. Any higher than that is pushing it.

Sonic Mania is an 8/10 game for me.

Bare in mind, reviews are opinion, not your opinion

      • Rafael Bueno

        Did i asked yours?

        • Tlink7

Did we ask yours? This is a thread, there are going to be opinions everywhere lol

      • Wanderlei

They should be objective as possible.

        • Opinions are by definition, not objective
          Reviews are never objective

          • Wanderlei

Objective opinions means non personal bias and factual, which all reviewers should strive for.

          • No, honey. All opinions are objective. This is not arguable. This is not negotiable. All of them. Look up the words “objective” and “opinion.” I can wait.

What you are seeking is a description, not a review.
“When you press A, Mario jumps.” This may be part of a review, to provide context for an opinion, but it is not a review.

          • Wanderlei

Sorry champ. First you just confused objective and subjective. Second here is the dictionary definition.

            >not influenced by personal feelings, interpretations, or prejudice; based on facts; unbiased: an objective opinion. 6. intent upon or dealing with things external to the mind rather than with thoughts or feelings, as a person or a book.

          • no such thing as an objective review, unless you’re an insurance adjuster
there are plenty of places you can go to get information about how many pixels are on the screen, how fast the frames are going, or what the names of the characters are
none of those places call that a review
if you want to read digital foundry or wikipedia, you and your syndrome are welcome to

i understand that popular sites pretending that reviews are digital data has fed into this unhinged mentality, but no publication is sitting there with a chart saying “no, we put call of duty at 7.6, and emily liked nba 2k MORE than call of duty! it must be at least a 7.61!”

            also
            ob·jec·tive
            əbˈjektiv/Submit
            adjective
            1.
(of a person or their judgment) not influenced by personal feelings or opinions in considering and representing facts.
“historians try to be objective and impartial”

            bolding mine

Disagree, i think ARMS is a great game to jump in for few matches, outside the grand prix (which is forgettable) the core mechanics and the online are really good.

The only thing is missing to me is some sort of event, like the Splatfest for Splatoon.

Sonic Mania is great but it is also Sonic with its historic flaws: you don’t really understand how to approach several things, what’s the purpose of the rings, sometimes you don’t understand if you are going too fast or too slow,… there are definitely moments of frustration in any Sonic game.

After several matches you realize that all these things don’t really matter and the purpose is more on getting more points and finishing the level.

      • Rafael Bueno

Oh someone that doesn’t like Mania like me? :O
I’m so glad to hear that

      • Rafael Bueno

Seems like we both think Mania is a bad as every Sonic game

        • Vive

Sonic Mania is a great Sonic game, maybe the best ever Sonic.

Sonic in general is not for everyone: SEGA tried so hard to explain the mechanics of the game with the gameplay directly as Nintendo always does (even botw has a very little tutorial) but the execution isn’t nearly as good.

The world 1-1 in Super Mario Bros is so intuitive that you understand everything of the game in few minutes.

          • Rafael Bueno

I was just kidding when i said Mania was Bad

    • It’s not like they consult a scale that has all their past choices on it

      It’s a number
      10 means good
      0 means bad
they pick something in between there based on their feeling

don’t read so much into it

Mario + Rabbids score is the only thing I agree with from Edge. Everything else is on them (honestly, Agents of Mayhem is a good game, imo. 7/10 or 8/10 is what it truly deserves. 4/10 is for Flip Wars).

    • Hey Stephen! You would mind join our server Discord? we want people like you can apport something positive to the discussion or/and debating, anyways the link is in my profile if you are intereted to join us.

  • Tlink7

Nice, M+R really deserves it, I’m having so much fun with that game <3

  • Addy

Some rabid Sonic fan sees 7/10 score, goes nuts, makes the fanbase look bad even though they are like that for the past decade.

  • R.Z.

I love Mario + Rabbids, I’m having a blast with it, but 9 really seems to be a bit much for what it is.
