Lords of Thunder hitting the North American Wii U Virtual Console tomorrow

Posted on November 8, 2017 by (@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop

Konami has another Virtual Console game ready for Wii U. Tomorrow, Lords of Thunder will be added to the eShop.

Nintendo’s website has the following overview:

“Lords of Thunder is a side-scrolling shooter that has you take on the role of a legendary warrior, blasting enemies to heavy-metal tunes. Your enemies are plotting to revive Zaggart, “The Dark One,” who was sealed beneath the six continents of Mistral. It’s up to Landis, descendant of the heroic Dyu, to stop them. Choose the order in which to attack the six stages. Before each stage, select one of four magic armors and use crystals you’ve collected during your battles to buy items. Then get ready to face awesome enemies like a fire-spewing sea serpent or a giant insect.”

Lords of Thunder will cost $5.99 on the Wii U Virtual Console.

I think it’s an attachment for the Wii? I dunno though, all I saw was one commercial and these kids had a chart. They called it an upgrade to the Wii

I still remember getting VC games on the Wii, as late as 2013, when the Wii U VC took off. Same thing with Wii U, I bet they discontinue the Wii U VC in early 2018, when they start adding games to the Switch.

Im going to be too hopeful and think that these wiiu virtual console games are gonna get transferred to switch. No idea why companies are still putting out VC games when barely anyone plays on the WiiU other than people who homebrew with Brain Age and dont need VC on the system, like me. WiiU is just the Smash4 and the modding system atm.

Here’s the games we still have left:

      Pokemon Puzzle League (N64)
      Super Smash Bros. (N64)
      Bomberman Hero (N64)
      Cruis’n USA (N64)
New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Wii) (NA is still missing this game, WTF!?)
      Bomberman ’93 (TG-16)
      Battle Lode Runner (TG-16)
      Break In (TG-16)

Surely that’s enough to last us until early 2018.

All those first party games won’t be coming since Japan doesn’t have any of them and none of the regions are interested in catching up anymore, save for third party TG16 games as it’s all Konami. They may give out more imports like Shubibinman 1/3 or just stop outright when the ESRB ones run out

Too bad I can’t download and play this on my Wii U since it’s packed away and have no plans on plugging it back to the TV. I’ll just wait until the Switch has VC emulation down pat.

Is this the first Turbo CD game to come to WiiU?

I hope we get all 200+ NES, SNES, N64, and TG-16 games on either the Wii U or Switch, before early 2019 or else they’ll be gone forever! Not to mention, all of the SMS, MD/GEN, and VCA games as well.
