A Hat in Time’s developer has been pushing to get its game on the Wii U. As far as the specifics go, creator Jonas Kaerlev and his studio Gears for Breakfast needs to obtain a license to port the game over, as it’s made in Unreal.

Gears for Breakfast is currently in talks with Epic Games to work out a deal. Additionally, Kaerlev confirmed to Polygon that the team is talking with a separate publisher about using their license in exchange for a “cut of the cake.” Gears for Breakfast has also been in touch with Nintendo so that it can become a licensed publisher on Wii U.
