Some new Switch owners in Japan receiving broken consoles with error code 2162-0002, Nintendo issuing replacements

How would you feel about receiving a new Switch system, only to discover that it’s actually broken? Unfortunately, that exact scenario is taking place in Japan.

Nintendo has acknowledged that some new Switch owners are unable to use the system. During the initial setup, the error code 2162-0002 is displayed, and there’s nothing else that can be done. It’s essentially a defective device.

The good news is that those who have been affected can obtain a replacement Switch. Those that are impacted can fill out the form here.

Nintendo has only mentioned that the problem has been taking place with Japanese Switch systems. If the issue does happen to extend to other regions, we’ll let you know.
