Deep Rock Galactic dev has looked into a Switch version, but lack of memory is a barrier
The popular co-op FPS Deep Rock Galactic is unlikely to get a Switch version anytime soon. In an interview with The Gamer, Ghost Ship Games CEO Søren Lundgaard revealed that the team explored the possibility. Ultimately though, the lack of memory has prevented any sort of port from happening.
Lundgaard said:
“Sadly, no. We talked to Nintendo a few times and we cried about the lack of memory. That’s the main problem – we’re using a lot of memory when we’re creating procedural caves, the destructible terrain, and such. We would need to branch it out and create a limited version that could work on Switch, but then we would have trouble updating both of those branches.”
Lundgaard did point to cloud streaming as a possible solution. But Ghost Ship Games has not currently looked into it “in a serious way at all.”
