Ultra Pro Wrestling coming to Switch
Hyperfocus Games intends to bring Ultra Pro Wrestling to Switch after a very successful Kickstarter campaign. The team’s recent crowdfunding campaign was seeking £17,000, but has managed to go well beyond that goal.
If you grew up with the N64 era of wrestling games, this one might be for you. Titles like WWF No Mercy, WCW vs NWO Revenge, and Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 are cited as inspirations.
As far as the gameplay goes, fans can expect a basic control system – it won’t be about memorizing move combinations. However, the team intends to provide an experience “that rewards skillful play.” Players “will be responsible for the execution of each move.”
Here’s a bit of additional information:
When you are pinned or in a submission you must repeatedly press the kickout button(s), which represents a wrestlers actual struggle to wake up/escape – as opposed to timing based mini-games.
With Ultra Pro Wrestling there will be an extensive moves list of grapples, strikes and aerial attacks from a range of combat disciplines. With multiple ring types, match types, weapons and rules… No two exhibitions will ever feel the same.
A number of features are planned for Ultra Pro Wrestling. These include a “massive” single-player career mode spanning multiple decades, an online mode in which wins/losses will determine rankings and a “Global Internet Wrestling Championship” that can only be held by one person at a time and requires it to be defended at least one per week, and a wrestler customization system that allows every wrestler to be fully customizable.
