Nintendo Switch 2 launch shipment numbers

A new report from Bloomberg may give us insight into the shipment numbers for Nintendo Switch 2 and what it could mean for launch.

The publication has information from Robin Zhu, an analyst at Sanford C. Bernstein. Ahead of today’s announcement, it was claimed that Nintendo has prepared a supply chain network that will allow Nintendo to sell over 20 million units in its first year.

How does that stack up with the previous Nintendo Switch? That system saw around 15 million units in its first four quarters, Bloomberg reports.

One of the most important aspects of a new hardware launch is supply. If demand outpaces supply by a significant margin, that could be a problem. However, it looks like Nintendo will be looking to avoid that scenario.

During the covid pandemic, the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series arrived. There were supply issues during their launches due to a lack of parts. Even the current Nintendo Switch experienced some supply issues at the time.

Nintendo finally gave us a first look at Switch 2 following months of speculation and leaks. You can check that out here.
