Donkey Kong gets updated Nintendo Switch icon following system update [update: other changes]

Original: If you’ve just downloaded the new 20.0.0 firmware update for Nintendo Switch, you’ll now have access to a new Donkey Kong icon.

The design is pictured below. This version of the character is based on his appearance in Donkey Kong Bananza and Mario Kart World. The icon is built in right into the system itself, meaning you don’t need to earn it through Nintendo Switch Online via My Nintendo Platinum Points.

Nintendo has started experimenting more with Donkey Kong’s look in recent years. Aside from the new version we’re seeing in Nintendo Switch 2 games, the character also had a unique appearance for The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

The new Nintendo Switch update just dropped a short while ago. A variety of features have been added in, including virtual game cards and functionality for Nintendo Switch 2 such as data transfers. You can catch up on everything that’s new via the patch notes here.
