Totaka’s Song, one of Nintendo’s longest-running Easter eggs, found in Mario Kart World

Totaka’s Song, which has been an Easter egg in Nintendo games going back decades, has been found in Mario Kart World.

The Easter egg originally snuck in by Nintendo sound designer Kazumi Totaka. The melody first appeared in the Game Boy game melody way back in 1990, but has since appeared in more recent titles like Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer (plus other entries in the series) and Mario Kart 8. Now it’s here in Mario Kart World as well.

You can get Totaka’s Song to play in Mario Kart World pretty easily. Simply head on over to the character select and hover over Yoshi. There’s a chance that he’ll hum the tune. Note that this works in all modes.
