Deathgasm: The Video Game coming to Nintendo Switch

Deathgasm: The Video Game is will be released on Nintendo Switch following a Kickstarter campaign.

The campaign was previously held not just for the game, but also for a graphic novel and merch. The $6,600 goal was easily reached, with funds surpassing $30,000.

FreakZone Games, the developer behind Angry Video Game Nerd, is in charge of the upcoming title. You’ll be able to take on the role of Brodie, Zakk, or Medina while going through nine challenging levels – each one is inspired by Dante’s Inferno and is “crawling with demonic chaos, twisted humor, and over-the-top gore.” There are a variety of weapons to use, including chainsaws and guitars.

Prepare to shatter skulls, slice through legions of hellspawn, and rock out in Deathgasm, a blood-drenched retro action-horror platformer inspired by Jason Howden’s cult horror-comedy masterpiece!

The Black Hymn has been unleashed, and now Hell itself is bleeding into reality. Play as Brodie, Zakk, or Medina and fight your way through nine brutally challenging levels—each inspired by Dante’s Inferno and swarming with demonic horrors. Arm yourself with whatever you can find—chainsaws, axes, guitars, and more—as you battle through hordes of the damned and take down monstrous bosses based on the most twisted villains from the film.

• Classic side-scrolling combat fused with an insane chiptune metal soundtrack. Hack, slash, and blast your way through demonic nightmares playing as one of three heroes all while wielding brutal (but breakable!) weapons.
• Traverse the Nine Circles of Hell as seen through the lens of suburbia, brought to life with grotesquely gorgeous pixel art. Face twisted horrors in Greypoint’s ruined streets, battle monstrous gluttons inside a demon’s gut, and survive the wrath of a cursed heavy metal rager from beyond the grave.
• Go head-to-head with screen-shattering bosses straight out of Deathgasm. Survive multi-phase battles against possessed rockstars, demonic neighbors, and the ultimate horror—Aeloth himself.
• Choose between Brodie, Zakk, and Medina, each with their own unique abilities and playstyles. Will you rely on speed, brute strength, or balanced combat to tear through Hell’s legions?
• Smash, slice, and shoot with a variety of weapons—including everyday objects turned into instruments of death. But be warned: weapons degrade & break, so stay armed to disarm the legions of the Red Tide, literally!!
• Overflowing with nods to the grindhouse horror comedy favorite, take part in comically pixelated carnage with an over-the-top attitude that would make even the Devil headbang.
