Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers discontinuation

Nintendo’s Switch Game Vouchers program is official coming to an end.

A notice about the discontinuation was posted on the official support page. On January 30, 2026, Nintendo Switch owners will not be able to purchase Game Vouchers. Vouchers expire twelve months after they were bought, so there aren’t any changes there. Nintendo didn’t elaborate on why the move is being made.

Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers allowed fans to save on games if they were a Switch Online member. Essentially, it’s possible to pick up two titles digitally for $100.

We had previously heard that the Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers program wasn’t going to extend to Switch 2. Once that news was made known, perhaps the writing was on the wall that it wouldn’t last much longer.

This is the second cost-saving initiative that Nintendo is pulling the plug on. Previously, Gold Points were discontinued on My Nintendo, which was a way for consumers to save a bit on Nintendo eShop purchases. You can find more details about that here.
