Nintendo warns against using Switch 2, Switch when temperatures are too high or low

Nintendo is giving Switch 2 owners a warning about using the system in extreme hot and cold temperatures.

Japan actually just recorded its hottest day ever this week. On Wednesday, the country saw temperatures of 41.2 C, or just over 106 F. Also, when winter rolls around in a few months, Japan (and other regions) could be subject to temperatures that are colder than normal.

Likely due to how hot it’s been lately, Nintendo put out a warning about using Switch 2 (and Switch 1) in extreme temperatures. Aside from impacting game performance, the console could malfunction due to an increase in heat.

The message from Nintendo reads:

Using Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2 in a hot environment may cause the console to heat up. This may cause a malfunction, so please use the console in an environment between 5°C and 35°C. We have seen several days recently where temperatures have exceeded 35°C. Please be careful when using the console outdoors.

For those using the Fahrenheit scale, the lower bound for Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch usage is 41F. You should not play either system in temperatures that hit 95F or above.
