Nintendo files Joy-Con 2 patents for a crank, clickable wheel
Patents aren’t typically a big deal as they don’t always result in tangible products, but we can’t help but share the latest filings that feature Joy-Con 2 attachments for a crank and a clickable wheel.
As pointed out by Nintendo Patents Watch, the first one has a rotary disc, which is tracked by the mouse sensor through a window. There are also two magnets in place that secure the attachment.
There’s also a different file that showcases a clickable wheel. The device’s rotation is tracked by the mouse sensor through a gear train. The click is transmitted to the SL button. Included on the attachment is a second button for pressing the SR.
Perhaps there’s the possibility that these attachments could come to market one day. On the other hand, we wouldn’t be surprised at all if these are just ideas, and won’t actually turn out into actual products. We can at least imagine the ways they can be used though – whether it’s for a fishing game or experiences similar to the Playdate handheld.
