Arcade action game Trasmoz Legends coming to Nintendo Switch
Trasmoz Legends will be appearing on Nintendo Switch, publisher Jandusoft and developer Volcano Bytes shared today. It’ll be out on September 11, 2025.
Trasmoz Legends is a retro-action experience featuring authentic 8-bit pixel art and a chiptune soundtrack powered by the legendary Yamaha YM2203 sound chip. It channels the spirit of 1984 arcades across four game modes, and a local couch co-op mode is supported.
Here’s some additional information:
Step into the final chapter of the Trasmoz saga, a story that began with critically acclaimed homebrew hits on ZX Spectrum and Amstrad CPC. Now, in this arcade-style adventure, you will experience the definitive version of the Trasmoz series as it would have been imagined in the golden age of arcades.
In Trasmoz Legends, every pixel and sound takes you back to the authentic 8-bit era with a meticulously crafted palette of just 16 colors. Our low-res sprites and various restrictions create a truly faithful retro aesthetic, honoring the 1984 arcade style.
But it’s not just a visual treat. We’ve used the legendary Yamaha YM2203 sound chip to recreate the unmistakable chiptune soundtrack of that era. This iconic sound chip, popular in classic arcade cabinets, produces a distinctive blend of FM synthesis and PSG (Programmable Sound Generator) audio, which provides a depth of sound that was rare in home consoles.
The soundtrack taps into the nostalgia of FM-driven basslines, synths, and crisp retro melodies, wrapping you in a fully immersive arcade experience.
Each track has been lovingly composed to capture the essence of arcade music, providing not only background music but an integral part of the emotional arc of each level.
The sound of Trasmoz Legends will keep you hooked, reinforcing the pace and challenge of the game.
Trasmoz Legends offers a variety of game modes, catering to all types of players, whether you’re a casual gamer looking for fun or a retro gamer seeking a challenge:
- Family Mode – This mode is perfect for those looking for a more relaxed experience, especially when playing with younger players. It offers infinite credits and a forgiving difficulty curve, making it easier to enjoy the game without the intense challenge that classic arcade titles are known for. It’s a great way for parents to introduce their kids to retro gaming and enjoy the adventure together.
- Classic Mode – For seasoned retro gamers and those looking for an authentic arcade experience, Classic Mode ramps up the difficulty, limiting your credits and making every life count. This mode is designed to replicate the challenge and excitement of 1980s arcade games, pushing your skills to the limit.
- Speedrun Mode – If you thrive on beating the clock, Speedrun Mode is made for you. It tracks your total playtime and ranks your performance, allowing you to compete for the fastest clear time. Speedrunners can test their precision and skill, replaying levels to shave off precious seconds and climb the leaderboard.
- Endless Mode – For players seeking a truly endless challenge, Endless Mode offers an infinite sequence of pre-designed levels presented in a pseudo-random order, each becoming progressively harder. See how long you can survive and compete for the highest score.
