Cyberpunk turn-based action game Keylocker coming to Switch
A little while back, Moonana opened a Kickstarter campaign for Keylocker, a cyberpunk turn-based action game. It turned out to be a huge success as the team smashed its funding goal with close to $60,000 raised. Additionally, a Switch version was secured after hitting a stretch goal.
Keylocker has players exploring the story of a BOBO, a singer and songwriter who “will serenade her rebellion against the vicious authorities by banding together with the Jukebot drummer, Rocket, to shatter the strings of fate and sing the melody of freedom.” Expect to “battle the authorities, unlock the secrets of the planet, play on your own bands’ concerts and hack into the network to bring an end to this corrupt system, for better or worse.” The project is said to take inspiration from the Mario & Luigi series and Chrono Trigger.
The action is highlighted by the rhythm-style battles with real time moves in which players aim their shots, time their attacks, and parry and block enemies. There are various gameplay elements like the ability to control electricity with your music for attack or defense, befriending and betraying citizens, multiple endings, a Music Show minigame, using equipment to customize characters, unlocking special Talents using the Keys harvested from enemies defeated in battle, and more.
We’ve included a trailer for Keylocker below.
Keylocker does not currently have a release window, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated on the game’s progress. You can head on over to the Kickstarter page here for more information.
