Those that are interested in picking up the physical version of GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition on Switch may be disappointed to hear that a download will be required. That news comes directly from the game’s boxart, which was posted by Target today. You can check out the design above.

Based on the download requirement, it looks like GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition cannot be played on its own if you purchase the physical version. The game’s file size is just over 25GB, so it looks like Rockstar opted against going for a bigger cartridge size. This often happens, though we did see The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt entirely on the cartridge despite clocking in at over 31GB.

GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition includes Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. All of the games are seeing upgrades new lighting and environmental upgrades, high-resolution textures, increased draw distances, Grand Theft Auto V-style controls and targeting, and more. We also know that there will be some Switch-specific features.

GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is due out digitally on November 11. The physical version will follow on December 7.
