List of Nintendo Switch games that are 1080p ready on Switch 2 in handheld mode
A new list is available outlining Nintendo Switch games that automatically run at 1080p on Switch 2 in handheld mode.
With the previous system, titles would always try to hit the native 720p resolution for portable play when possible. When you run them on Nintendo Switch 2, that’s usually the resolution you’ll get. However, a few actually go beyond the limit, and will run at 1080p automatically – in other words, you don’t need to download any patches.
Here’s the full list:
- All “Project Egg” games – all output 1080p for assets like text, game manuals; “pixels” look sharper thanks to the 1080p framebuffer
- Atelier Arland (Rorona, Totori, Meruru) DX – note: some UI elements are taken from the Vita and PS3 games
- Baroque: Original Version – full 1080p output, rendering of 240p original game is also 1080p
- Grim Guardians: Demon Purge – 1080p framebuffer in handheld mode, full 1080p UI and menus
- Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition – full 1080p
- Mad Rat Dead – full 1080p
- Mary Skelter 2 – 1080p for HUD/2D assets, but in-game graphics seem to target around 720p resolution
- The Last Remnant – 1080p for text and menus, but the in-game graphics also seem to target a dynamic 1080p
- Tokyo Xanadu EX+: – 1080p UI, menus, HUD, character dialogue 3D faces, but in-game graphics seem to target dynamic 720p in handheld mode
- Ys: Memoire in Celceta – all 2D assets, including text, the HUD, menus are rendered in 1080p
- Ys Memoire: Oath in Felgana – in-game 3D graphics and 2D assets are 1080p now
Fans have been busy looking at which Nintendo Switch 1 games look and run better on Switch 2 simply thanks to more powerful hardware. WWE 2K18, the last platform’s worst port, is one example of this.
Thanks to Jake for the tip and LightPad for putting the list together.
