Mario Kart World unlockable outfits list

One of the big new features in Mario Kart World is the ability to unlock outfits for different characters. Most of the drivers in this game have plenty of costumes choose from – with the exception of Donkey Kong and Pauline, who only have one outfit each. Furthermore, some drivers, like Wiggler, Nabbit, and all of the minion characters, are designated as NPC drivers. This means that they don’t have any costumes to choose from at all.

How to unlock outfits in Mario Kart World

Mario Kart World unlockable outfits farming method

In this game, you can unlock new outfits for characters by eating Dash Food, which appears in Free Roam, Grand Prix, and Knockout Tour. In other words, you’re meant to slowly unlock outfits over time as you play the game. If you try to unlock the outfits all at once, you’ll find that it winds up being pretty tedious. Basically, Dash Food will transform a character into an outfit that’s appropriate for the area you’re in. For example, eating a burger at Mario Bros. Circuit will almost always unlock the character’s Touring outfit if they have one. Likewise, Boo Cinema tends to unlock more unique outfits like the Oasis costume for Luigi, Wario, and Daisy as well as the Aristocrat outfits for Yoshi and King Boo.

It’s important to note that the outfit you receive is based on the food you eat. Some Dash Food vendors give out multiple kinds of food, and each different food item has a chance to turn you into a different outfit. When eating Dash Food, make sure you take a few from the same vendor to make sure you aren’t missing any. An “easy” but tedious way to get all the outfits would be to travel to each individual course, eat its Dash Food a few times, and then switch characters and repeat. You’re probably better off playing Grand Prix with the intent of 3-starring the 150cc cups because you’ll unlock plenty of outfits that way while also having a chance to unlock NPC drivers via the Kamek item.
