Nightmare Busters Rebirth

Nightmare Busters Rebirth is in development for Nintendo Switch, Pix’n Love and Aurora Game Studio revealed today. A release window was not provided.

Nightmare Busters originally released for the SNES, but it didn’t actually receive a proper release until 2013. The run and gun action game is now making a modernized comeback that will support local co-op.

Here’s some information about it:

Inspired by the great names of arcade gaming, Nightmare Busters Rebirth immerses players in a stunning universe where the supernatural meets unbridled action. Take control of Flynn and Floyd, two leprechaun brothers and nightmare hunters, as you journey through many environments and test your reflexes against relentless waves of enemies and devilish bosses! Combining intense gameplay, punchy action, and graphics that merge traditional hand-drawing techniques with modern tools, this 2D run-and-gun promises to thrill fans of the genre.

Born from deep reflection and an unconditional love for video games, Nightmare Busters Rebirth is the brainchild of the Pix’n Love / Aurora Game Studio duo. Initiated in 2023, this project has steadily grown over two years of development, gathering a team of dedicated enthusiasts. With graphics and animations blending hand-drawn art and contemporary techniques, Nightmare Busters Rebirth boasts a truly unique visual identity and now aims higher than ever.

Originally developed in 1994 by Arcade Zone for the Super Nintendo, Nightmare Busters’ release was unfortunately canceled in 1995. Eager to pay tribute to this enchanting arcade game, Aurora Game Studio and Pix’n Love Games have joined forces to bring this extraordinary project back to life. Thanks to Nightmare Busters Rebirth, and with the support of some of the original creators, players will have the chance to experience this intense adventure through a complete overhaul. The game now features enhanced visual quality, polished animations, and a reorchestrated soundtrack—all while preserving the essence of what made the original so special.
