Nintendo says it’s still on track for Switch 2 announcement this fiscal year
As fans continue to wonder when Nintendo will pull back the curtain on Switch 2, we have reconfirmation that an announcement is still happening this fiscal year.
President Shuntaro Furukawa said today that there’s been “no change” regarding the timeline. That means we should be hearing something by the end of March 2025. However, it remains to be seen when the system will actually launch.
Many fans were hoping that we could see some sort of reveal by the end of 2024. However, that’s starting to look very unlikely. The holidays are approaching, the big shopping season is here, and an announcement just doesn’t appear to be in the cards. There are many reasons as to why Nintendo could be saving a reveal for early 2025, but no one can say for sure what’s happening within the company at present.
In May, Furukawa shared for the first time that Nintendo would be announcing Switch 2 within the next fiscal year. However, nothing has been shared since then. Fans have grown antsy waiting for news, but it looks like the announcement won’t be taking place for a little while longer. Furukawa did not share anything further about the platform today.
Nintendo reported its financial results earlier today. It has cut back on its forecast for both Switch hardware and software sales.
