Open-world deckbuilder Moonstone Island announced for Switch
Studio Supersoft has confirmed that Moonstone Island, its open-world deckbuilder, is on the way to Switch. Right now the project has a tentative 2023 release window.
Moonstone Island begins with players moving to an island to spend a year away from home, which is a tradition in the hero’s village as part of alchemy training. Players will start a new life and build a home for themselves “in a land that has been stifled by dark forces.” They’ll have simple tools, alchemical recipes, and the ability to tame nature spirits at their disposal.
Moonstone Island is big in scope with over 120 islands to seek out across a procedurally generated world. Players will be able to travel by using a balloon, broom, or glider. Also as part of that exploration, the game has procedural dungeons with upgrades and rewards that can be earned.
Deckbuilding comes into play in battle. By taming spirits, they’ll fight alongside you. Spirits can also be put on a farm to produce resources. The farm can grow crops and flowers to brew potions for battle. It’s also worth noting that the game features crafting for items and vehicles, usable in home customization and to access far off places in the world.
