Palworld developer Pocketpair appears to be open to a Switch 2 version of the game, despite the company’s ongoing lawsuit with Nintendo / The Pokemon Company.

At GDC 2025 last week, IGN spoke with communications director John ‘Bucky’ Buckley, who was asked about the possibility of a version happening on that console. It sounds like the team is very much open to considering the possibility so long as it’s technically possible. Buckley even said that a Nintendo Switch 1 version would have happened, but “Palworld is a beefy game.”

As of now Pocketpair can’t commit to a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Palworld as the company has yet to see the specs. But if the hardware is capable, it’s “100% worth considering”.

Buckley said the following with IGN:

“We haven’t seen those specs yet. Like everyone else, we’re waiting. I’m walking around GDC hoping someone will tell me them, but everyone I’ve spoken to says they haven’t even seen them. If it’s beefy enough, it’s 100% worth considering. We did a lot of optimization for Steam Deck, which we were really happy with. Still work to do, but we’re really happy with how it turned out. So we would like to get it on more handhelds if possible.”

Nintendo and The Pokemon Company filed a lawsuit against Pocketpair and Palworld last September. Buckley commented on the situation, noting that “legal checks” were done prior to launch and “it was a very depressing day” for the studio. You can read his full comments here.
