Forge of the Fae

Datadyne fully unveiled Forge of the Fae this week, and it’s confirmed for Switch.

A Kickstarter campaign opened, and its first day, the funding target was smashed. Over $20,000 has been raised and that number is still rising. Switch was included in the base $15,000 goal, so we’ll be seeing the game on Switch in the future.

Going over the actual game, Forge of the Fae is a Celtic-inspired pixel art JRPG that takes place in a world reminiscent of 1800s Ireland. Aside from an emphasis on story, players can look forward to puzzle solving and strategic turn-based combat. It’s also said that player choices will have an impact.

Here’s some additional information:

Set in a world inspired by 1800s Ireland, Forge of the Fae plunges players into a beautifully crafted narrative where humans and fae are in conflict. As an ancient power awakens and tensions rise, players will follow the journey of Fiora, a young inventor, as she uncovers the secrets of her world while navigating a complex mystery and discovering who she can become. Decisions made will influence the outcome, giving players control over the story’s direction and creating a more personal experience.

Drawing inspiration from classic JRPGs, Forge of the Fae features a deep turn-based combat system where strategy reigns supreme. Players will be challenged to master the “ARC Crystal System” and “Adrenaline” systems, which offer versatile, customizable spells and abilities, adding depth and excitement to combat. Alongside the action, intricate puzzles scattered throughout the world encourage exploration and reward players with powerful items and hidden lore.

One of the standout features of Forge of the Fae is its living world. Day and night cycles, dynamic weather systems, and NPCs with their own schedules add depth, making the game world feel alive. Players will encounter environments that shift as they progress, from peaceful towns during the day to dangerous wilds teeming with hostile creatures at night. Additionally, side quests and exploration opportunities expand the story, offering meaningful and challenging rewards to players.
