Reincarnation Game announced for Nintendo Switch, sugoroku game from Dragon Quest and Blue Lock creators
Reincarnation Game was announced for Nintendo Switch today, and it’s a notable reveal as the creators of Dragon Quest and Blue Lock are involved. The title launches digitally next year in Japan.
Any is handling development while ArtePiazza will be publishing. Yuji Horii, known for his work on Dragon Quest, is an advisor. Muneyuki Kaneshiro, who is behind the Blue Lock manga, is the concept planner. It is the first collaboration between these two.
Here’s what’s been shared thus far:
Reincarnation Game is a sugoroku game with themes of “reincarnation,” “karma,” and “destiny,” in which players compete to “reincarnate” by knocking each other down.
As you repeatedly “reincarnate,” you can use “Karma” to sabotage or betray other players… The closer you get to victory, the more your friendships will be destroyed. We are developing this game with the concept of “a game that will definitely cause conflict between friends.”
The original character draft was done by Muneyuki Kaneshiro, and the character design was done by Shintaro Mashima. The setting of this work is the afterlife, “Rinne World.” In this dark fantasy world, unique characters await, who will destroy the friendship between players.
In the future, we are considering expanding beyond games to include multifaceted cross-media development such as anime, merchandise, and TikTok content.
No media has been provided and it does not appear that a release outside of Japan is currently planned. We’ll keep you updated as we hear more about the game.
