Someone apparently has a final Nintendo Switch 2 retail unit, but won’t work until update is released

A few days remain until the official Nintendo Switch 2 launch, but unsurprisingly, reports are starting to surface of some fans getting their hands on the system early. The thing is, it’s not actually functional right now.

YouTuber a2dubai posted a quick video showing an “unboxing” of the unit. There’s actually not much to see, however. We get a look at the main device and the Joy-Con 2, but that’s pretty much it.

a2dubai followed up in the comments stating that Nintendo Switch 2 won’t function until an update is made available. As of now that cannot be downloaded. This certainly makes sense given that we’re still a little over a week away from launch. It also lines up with what we heard regarding review units being limited.

a2dubai did not say how he managed to obtain the Nintendo Switch 2 console. However, reports are starting to emerge of units appearing at stores, though they are not available for purchase.
