Starsand Island confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2

Seed Lab will be bringing Starsand Island to Nintendo Switch 2, the company has announced. It will launch when the game is ready to go in early 2026.

Starsand Island will feature a Quality Mode targeting 45FPS at 1080p resolution and a Performance Mode with 60FPS at 1080p resolution in Performance Mode (both docked and handheld). GameChat during online multiplayer and mouse controls will be supported.

Here’s a brief overview of the game:

Starsand Island sees the player’s character escape the hustle and bustle of city life and return to the island home of their youth on a journey of personal healing. As they settle into the calming, pastoral idyll, players will farm, fish, raise animals, explore the island’s mysterious and ancient ruins, and build connections with quirky local characters.

Creative director Richardo Wang said today: “Bringing Starsand Island to Nintendo Switch 2 has been a longstanding goal for us; the life-sim genre has a natural home on Nintendo consoles. Even before it was announced nearly a year ago, we knew – and wanted – our game to be on Nintendo’s next-generation platform. Starsand Island transports players to a simple, pastoral life, and we think that should be available whether they’re at home, commuting to and from work, or taking a break.”

Note that while there was previously talk of the game landing on the original Nintendo Switch, those plans have been scrapped. We’ll only be seeing it on Nintendo Switch 2.
