Virtual Game Cards page mentions “Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games”
Nintendo has made official mention of something called “Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games”.
As part of today’s Nintendo Direct, this new feature was announced. The functionality will be coming to Nintendo Switch in late April as well as Switch 2 when that’s available. The announcement was noteworthy in its own right, but now the newly-launched hub for Virtual Game Cards page has mentioned “Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games”.
Here’s what’s stated on the site:
Compatible systems must be linked to a Nintendo Account to use virtual game cards. Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive games and Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games can only be loaded on a Nintendo Switch 2 system.
As of now the page doesn’t include any further clarification regarding “Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games”. However, these could be for Switch 1 titles that will be upgraded on Switch 2. What form that would take is not currently clear. We could be finding out more following Nintendo’s big Switch 2 blowout on April 2, which is thankfully just a few days away.
You can check out the page for yourself here. We also have more information about the newly-announced Virtual Game Cards here.
