I remember playing ARMS and while I did enjoy it, I honestly don’t think I’d spend more than 5mins on it. It just seems like a game intended for parties and such rather than solo or online battles.

ARMS is basically Wii Boxing developed to a full-fledged game but eh, it’s a hard-buy at the current price.

  • Man

Hehe, the blue haired guy is named, “Spring Man”. Couldn’t Capcom sue them for that name given the Mega Man series already has a Robot Master with that name.

  • nemo37

This is the spiritual successor to punch-out I have been looking for. I cannot wait to pick it up.

  • maxleresistant

    Spring Man
    Ribbon Girl

Damn they could have put a little more effort into naming characters

    • TDude73

      Why so serious?!

      • maxleresistant

Nothing to do with being serious. Those names are unimaginative. If this is supposed to be funny names, they failed pretty badly.

        • TDude73

Your comment is an epic fail, Maxine. Why so serious?

          • maxleresistant

Go learn how to have a proper conversation. Then come back and maybe we’ll discuss.

      • flappospammo

        that’s soooo original

        impressive

    • Bruno_Ostara

I thought that at first, but it does sound like comic books so it grew on me. I still hate the name of the game though

    • Tlink7

The goofy names fit the goofy nature of the game – chucking your frigging hands at people…

      • ForeVision

Reminds me of a certain Anime’s main character who uses the same kind fighting techniques 😛

  • NeptuniasBeard

The game looks fun, but are they really only going to have FIVE characters?

C’mon Nintendo give SOME kind of hint that there is more than what we saw in the freakin’ launch trailer

    • KnightWonder

Someone didn’t watch the Treehouse stream.

      • NeptuniasBeard

Yeah, they claimed there will be more. I heard them. But I haven’t been given much reason to believe them yet. If they’re still being this coy about releasing info a month or two out from release, it’s probably not much. I’m cautiously optimistic at best at this point. But hey, I’m hoping to be proven wrong and they just come out with a ton of extra content

        • Kenshin0011

Okay, so they’re flat out lying *rolls eyes*

It’s not abnormal to hold back info, as to not spoil/reveal everything, especially when there’s not even a firm release date.

          • NeptuniasBeard

Like I said, it’s not a matter of lying, it’s a matter of how true it is. “More” is a rather vague quantifier. If this game comes out with 2 more characters and one other glove type, that’s still “more”, but the package would still be lacking.

And I’m sure it won’t be quite that bad, but the fact that we are this close to when it’s supposed to be released and we’ve yet to be shown anything more than the initial info, again, makes me skeptical.

And like I said, i would be glad to be proven wrong, but the constant recycling of the same info we were shown before doesn’t send good signals.

        • Indielink

This is Nintendo we’re talking about. They will give attention to ONE game at a time. Zelda is out, time to focus on MK8D, once that is out we’re gonna get a nice little marketing blitz on ARMS.

          • Hidden Flare

What else is there to say about mario kart 8 deluxe, we went over mostly what it has with whats from the original game and what will be added. Even if it gets attention, it can share with Arms.

    • Phish!

Someone didnt look at Nintendoeverything often even on this site a interview was published were the gamecreator stated new modes and characters are coming

  • MagcargoMan

Spring Man’s voice sounds bit weaksauce.

    • ibo

your profile pic looks like weaksauce..

  • Hidden Flare

Gesh normally I’m one not to care too much for voice acting, usually its ok enough for me, but dang this announcer just doesn’t fill me with excitement. I don’t favor the dialog either, I feel like they are trying to capture the old wrestler feel or put in a few good (bad) puns but it just doesn’t sound right.

I do like the idea of a combination though, adds more creativity and could make things fun.

And like I said with Arms before, the game looks fine with its main fighting mode but you need more. Pokken had an issue with me where it just didn’t offer enough variety so thats why Im keeping watch now.

We had two new IPs last generation, Splatoon and Codename S.T.E.A.M. One raised to the occasion partly due to NIntendo’s help with advertising, also making the art style look very good, and adding a lot of world building for fans to get interested in, not to mention great gameplay. The other wasn’t as interesting, it felt like the console couldn’t give it the best graphics, it wasn’t that interesting for everyone, and its gameplay wasn’t that fun. Take a guess which game is which. All I want to know is what ARMS will be?

  • Kenshin0011

I played this at PAX South in January and it was a ton of fun!

Only thing that may hurt its sales is the fact that 1v1 fighting games normally do not receive a ton of sales, especially nowadays. The perception is that the value just isn’t there when priced at $59.99. However, the full price is totally justified for a game developed from the ground up for a new system.

I hope that Nintendo really delivers on gameplay modes outside of what you’d expect (normal campaign, online and local, etc.,)

    • ibo

ya but Nintendo priced 1-2-Switch for $50 and people still bought it…. i’m sure this game will sell well at $60 to the Nintendo user base :v
they said that there is still more characters to be announced hopefully there is some story or a ending cut scene for each character that would be awesome

    • TDude73

I’m so freaking jealous of you, Kenshin. I really want to try out ARMS, but don’t have the Switch yet… possibly later this year. I’m glad that you truly enjoyed playing Nintendo’s new IP as well as respecting your thoughts and concerns.

  • Ninty Kad

Soo…. is no one going to talk about the fact there are fighters with DNA looking arms in pods during the weapon’s showcase? This is ARMS lore that I need to know!

    • ibo

they ate too much GMO food…….
the whole tournament is sponsored by monsanto. ( ╹ਊ╹)
      now you know the lore.

  • I think ARMS has the potential to be the next Splatoon. Just like how Splatoon took a quirky take on the shooting genre and redefined it successfully I think ARMS has the potential to do the same for the boxing genre. I’m still not sure on how successful it will be but I’m hoping that it’s a game that we can look back on and say….. ” Hey the game looked weird and unorthodox when I first saw it but wow it surprised me on how fun and addictive it is ”

  • Tlink7

Mr swirly-hair is compensating for something, I think

    • ForeVision

Lack of a good shampoo? Or the fact that he has an insatiable need to buy blue hair dye?

      • Tlink7

He just uses the gel from those adverts where people have ridiculously-shaped hair

        • ForeVision

Axe Extra Flexible, the premium gel for people who shake their head far too much.

  • Yolkghost

It took them a while, but i’m happy these are finally in english! Looking forward to new info on ARMS, hoping it will be a late may release since Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a late April release. Hoping for an ARMS direct this month though.

  • This voice over is quite cringe inducing and the dialogue is as bland as it gets. The game itself looks okay but i’m not particularly excited for it.
