Capcom’s official comments on future Switch plans

Posted on November 14, 2017 by (@NE_Brian) in News, Switch

During its latest financial results briefing, Capcom was specifically asked about Switch support during the Q&A session. The company had spoken positively about Nintendo’s console, and noted how the system was important for multiplatform development.

While we previously only had tidbits and small paraphrases based on what was said last week, Capcom has posted the full Q&A section online in English. You can read the full excerpt below.

What are your expectations for the Nintendo Switch, and how will you support it going forward?

We feel the favorable performance of the Nintendo Switch, and the impact it is having on reaffirming the status of home video game consoles, are very positive. Going forward we will support the Nintendo Switch based on our fundamental strategy of multiplatform development.

Further, we are cognizant of the need to evaluate further how to best utilize the unique features of this platform, which differ from those of other home video game consoles.

    THE EVALUATION…

    IS OVER.

    • NintendoPSXTheSecond

      And now another evaluation BEGINS!

    • Bart

“we are cognizant of the need to evaluate further”

Right there in the article. :p

      • Exy

They see the need for more evaluation but it doesn’t mean they’ll actually do it. In any case it’s an upgrade from whether they should do anything at all or just keep evaluating.

  • Force

    Multiplatform eh? No exclusives then?

Also Capcom, words alone ain’t good enough.

  • dataminor

Pipe down and hit us with that new Marvel vs. Capcom already.

    • Ardisan

I dont think I can trust them with fighting games anymore.

    • theFooFighter

Nahhhhh. Mh world, re7, okami yeah they should be on switch but MVC is a dud

      • Jaxon Holden

        Nonsense. MvC:I is incredible.

Make no mistake gentlemen, Marvel vs Capcom is a real gem of a game.

    • jimmy

I rather have the old ones

  • Blanco8x8

Can they say it with a little more enthusiasm?

  • Dascylus

The evaluation period is over, dude… your efforts maybe just suck?

  • Vigilante_blade

Don’t focus on using unique features. Just make a good game.

    • Aline Piroutek

Just make the same game, release it and make additional features after the main game is ready.

    • Aline Piroutek

“Uh, I don’t know how can I use the infrared sensor”
Don’t use it mr. dev. No need to remove the game from the console because you didn’t think of any innovation.

      • Vigilante_blade

Honestly, games need to be polished first and foremost. The best games of the Wii, Wii U and Switch era generally do not make full use or any use at all of gimmicks.

        • jimmy

Oddly enough the capcom games did, RE4, okami, umbrella chronicles

    • Fredy Rodriguez Ortega

      unique features =/= motion controls
      don’t be afraid

  • fox_whisper85

    Blah blah blah freaking blah.

  • Aline Piroutek

    You say “multiplatform”.
You only bring Resident Evil Revelations Remaster to the platform.
    Derp.

  • Aline Piroutek

And don’t even care about the exclusive Monter Hunter XX on the west.
Why? Because it is a Nintendo exclusive.

  • Pepperkeet

I swear to god every time EA comes out and says something blatantly stupid (just look at the battlefront 2 debacle)
    Capcom says “Hold my drink”
The level of incompetence… is astounding

  • nekoknight

All I want is Mega Man Legends 3 gosh darn it.

  • Padre

Good news. Love SF2U. Keep em coming!

  • JJ

How about: Mega Man Legacy Collection 2, Disney Afternoon Collection, Okami HD and Monster Hunter for a start..

    • Dylan W

Oh please Okami HD! I need it in my life. I have the Wii version but never beat it. A Switch version would be perfect because Okami is an incredibly long game.

    • Pachirisu

Disney Afternoon Collection would require permission from Disney first of all
the rest should have been on the system day one though

  • blowingupyourmind

    Positive evaluation requires cash hat

  • Jaxon Holden

Enough with the hive mind insults already people.

Clearly they’re committed, they say right there in black and white they’re proceeding with multiplatform development. And it’s good they’re looking into leveraging the strengths of Switch. RE Revelations Collection is a prime example of Switch features making already great games absolute must haves.

It’s not like they aren’t making games in the meantime. I get criticism but this is turning into blind witch hunting

    • Princess_Eevee9

I’m so sorry we insulted your employer, why don’t you guys get your affairs and brains in order and actually start making smart business decisions?

  • Hansel Gunarto

Go home and be some switch exclusives, capcom!
