Phantasy Star Online 2 Cloud releasing Spring 2018 in Japan

Posted on December 16, 2017 by (@NE_Brian) in News, Switch

We knew that Phantasy Star Online 2 Cloud would be launching for Switch in Japan sometime in 2018. SEGA has now narrowed things down a bit further, confirming a release window of Spring 2018.

SEGA has shared the following information:

– No time-consuming downloads and constant updates since everything is on a cloud server
– Runs at 30 frames per second, but there may be lag depending on network conditions
– A stable Internet connection is required to play
– The Switch version cannot play quests with models outside of the PC version
– All accounts use the same SEGA ID, so Arks Cash and Star Gems can be shared across models
– Can switch between models as you please as long as you are not logged in at the same time

Know what would be the best information? If they told us about localization plans.

you had Online 1,2, and 3 on GC. you had Online 1, 2, and 4 on PC. You had PSU on PC / PS2. You have Phantasy Star Portable 1 and 2 on PSP. You had Phantasy Star 0 on DS

What they mean by outside the pc version?

There are PS4 and smartphone versions I think

    Will it get localized? NO!

Seriously why don’t they localize these games.

Don’t know. They even did an animΓͺ to promote the game on Vita.

    WESTERN PLEASE!!! I want play it. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Sega, you will have our money if you bringing it to Western. Do it to all fans who want this. Accept if this Franchise isn’t sells well in Western but still do it for fans and maybe new comers fancy joins in and play. Take risks sometime can be good. Look at Nintendo and Sony got lots of niche games and still bringing them back and continue risk with. You had done each time with niche Sonic games in recently of years so you can do that game for Switch in Western.

Day one buy if it coming to western. πŸ˜›

This game is free to play, you don’t have to buy it. You could spend the money on Arks Cash but even that isn’t necessary, it’s not like pay-to-win or anything.

      • Jacob Groves

Yeah I understand but somehow Sega might want release as retail phy. Who know?

        • Justin McQuillen

It’s download-only on all platforms. Trust me I get what you’re saying, I played PSO back in the day on DC and GC.

          • Jacob Groves

Yeah I know. But just never know if Sega want retail phy not only download. Look at many online only games still get retail phy though. πŸ˜›

I’ve been playing this game for years already so it will be cool to be able to log into my account and play through a mission or two on my Switch. Also it makes perfect sense that they are doing it on cloud servers because this game is way too big.

    • Aline Piroutek

Man, I bought a 8gb card to my Vita: I tried to download it. Freaking 12gb for a Vita game. I gave up.

    • Aline Piroutek

I was wondering when it was announced for Japan: “Stream games are trash, just like remote play on Vita. The lag is irritating.”
But now my mind has changed.

  • Good for fans of the game hope come on US for those who want this game so bad.

  • DeltaPeng

Being cloud-based sounds interesting (and helpful as these kinds of games tend to be large). If it comes to US I’d be interested in checking it out
