Resident Evil Revelations 1 and 2 Switch file sizes

Posted on September 7, 2017 by (@NE_Brian) in News, Switch

Capcom opened the official Switch website for Resident Evil Revelations 1 and 2 today. File sizes for both games are included on the page.

First up, Resident Evil Revelations requires 13GB of free space. Resident Evil Revelations 2 doubles that at 26GB. With the second game, since it won’t fit within Switch’s internal memory, a separate microSD card will be needed if you intend to purchase the game.

Damn 26 gigs now to reconsider if I will purchase this game or skip. Now I kind of wish resident evil rev 2 was like NBA 2K18 with a sd card needed to play the other portion of the game.

    • Tjnswitch

No need to wish, its like that !

      • Leonel

Well it does kind of make me wonder what type of sales we might get here but ill probably just purchase a 128 gb ad card and buy the game

        • Tjnswitch

not sure if your in the USA but you can trade-in stuff (games/books/dvd, figures/toys…..ect.) to Amazon and use that credit to help you get that 128gb sd card !

          • Leonel

Yes I’m in the u.s. I live in Chicago and you be surprised at how many things I price match when I see it. When I certain items for a price I price match and some places have been nice enough to sell me identical items with the price match. I have a Wii U and I bought an sd card and flash drive 64 gb each and I was able to get them from $15 each so I have faith that the 128 gb sd card won’t be too pricey through the year

          • Tjnswitch

            :o)

128gb Samsung evo is 44 on Amazon its 2027 model fastest read speed 100mb loads little faster than others…..some day on sales you can get it for 30 something on Amazon

          • Leonel

Thanks for the heads up ill be keeping my eye on the SD cards and hopefully I can get one for $30 or near that price.

          • Gemmol Lewis

I meant to say its a 2017 model……the difference between my model the one i told you about Samsung evo 128gb with 100mb read speed vs other models is the read speed the faster a memory card load up the more expensive it cost, for example they were selling 256gb cards for 20 something other day at Walmart but it was the older 256gb card that had a slow read speed I think 60 mb speed, so you will find many memory cards, you might find a big one like 256gb with slow read speeds for cheap or find one with my speed, it all depends on what you want to use, but i prefer speed I can wait patiently for the bigger size memory cards to drop in price as long as read speed is fast………..all the cards will drop in price just now the 400gb card is coming out and it is replacing the 256gb card meaning the 400gb card will cost the price of the 256gb card when it gets on the shelf, so it will cost 250, and the 256gb card will switch price with the 200gb card, and the 200gb card will switch price with the 128gb card, and the 128 gb card will switch price with the 64gb card, and the 64gb card will switch price with 32gb card so by end of year a 64gb card will cost 13 dollars lol, my goal is to wait for the 400gb card to drop to 70

If this trend continues, a 128gb is too small I think to go digital.
A 500gb hdd s considered too small for ps4 and xbox and I’m afraid a 512gb microsd cost the same as a switch.
big games to comes in the future would mean people would choose physical more and more.

Sooner or later people would demand that they should be able to backup their storage card.

          • Leonel

I hear you for sure about that. I am getting afraid where certain games are going to be really big. I am very picky about games I buy digitally or physically but download size is a major factor honestly. Usually when caps on does sells on the eshop I am tempted to buy a game but sometimes the file size lures me away lol

          • Gemmol Lewis

I have a 128gb, it holds a lot of games, and it only cost 40 to 44, with sales it drop down to 25 to 33 dollars, either price is not bad, i have over 90 gig left not counting the gig on the internal system, i transfer everything from the system to the card, then i went fully digital, over 12 downloads with 90 something gig left over……i understand after NBA 2k18 on September 15 it will drop down to 60 or 70 gigs left, but even with that much space i can still resident evil 1 and 2 revelations and maybe 2 other games, so that’s a good amount of games for one memory card

  • Tjnswitch

so just at 39gb for both, excellent ! Time to put my 128gb to use ! Its going to be cool to have both of these games on the go-whenever !!!

  • Rodrigo Coelho Costa Junior

Reading this “1 and 2 Switch” on the title made me confused with the RE image

  • Blanco8x8

Yikes, what happened to file compression?

  • Vive

Retail version is still N.A only or also Europe? at this point i’d like to have the game on cartridge to save space.

    • Tony

You won’t be saving much space… the second game is digital only so you’d still need 26GB of space for that even with the physical version… still might be worth it eventually once the game goes on clearance or something to offset the cost of needing extra SD card storage.

  • Tjnswitch

Def. getting both digital this time around ! Whats the point of having one game on your system at all times and not the other lmao !!!

    • Paddy Alfan

Going digital with consoles is a bit of a hassle.
On pc I it’s a bit of more backup friendly. You just need to copy the games folder elsewhere to freed up your main gaming hdd (except for games from Windows store because Microsoft is evil)
Switch have no option to backup games yet, and even ps4 have to wait awhile before they add the feature.
Until then I’m afraid going digital would mean deleting older games to make room for new one.

      • Tjnswitch

not if you planned ahead and had prioritized your Switch gaming. MOST of the Switch folks i know have 128gb. It was the first thing that came to my mind post-Switch release.

        • StuOhQ

128 GB is hardly going to be enough for digital only on Switch. Right here we have a game taking up a quarter of that (when you account for the fact that a 128 GB card doesn’t really hold 128).

I will simply pass on games that don’t give a physical option. A 1-2 GB patch on top of the cart is something I can begrudgingly deal with.

I’m buying physical only and have a 64GB SD card. I set a hard, fast rule of 3GB as maximum required download.

If a dev can’t figure out how to make a game work on a card with a small patch, they don’t want my money. I’m more than willing to chip in a little extra towards a 32GB Switch cart, if they can’t fit it onto a 16GB (which is understandable).

          • Tjnswitch

im not going digital only for Switch. Yet the best of both world really. The games i want on my system always/everywhere i go i’m getting digital. Physical releases that are First Print, Special ED, Collectors Ed….ect. that appeal to me i’m going to get those ! So really i’m just your normal average Switch gamer aka average joe and Nintendo knows that too!

  • StuOhQ

Capcom lost a sale on this one. At the very least, they could have put the larger of the two games on cart. Having Rev2 be digital only basically makes it a $40+ game, needing to buy extra storage to play it. I would have happily paid an extra $10 for the physical bundle to get the second game on a 32GB card.

    • Tjnswitch

you NEED an sd card for most “smart” devices / handhelds now adays, so whats the shocker here? Are you or are you not planning to keep your Switch for at least 5 to 8 years?

  • Daniel Limón

Terrible how Capcom doesn’t care about compressing anymore.

    • Vive

it would have been okay here with a cartridge for each game.

26gb for a digital release is insanity, Rev2 is bigger than Tomb Raider. :/

  • Petri

My 64gb card is feeling so small suddenly…
Even though I have only used less than 20% of it.

    • Yolkghost

Same here, thought 64gb would last me a while since I would stick to physical for games that give the option and get indies digitally.

      • Petri

I robbed my 64gb from my 3ds, before that it was in my phone.
My phone did not need it because of the retarded way android 5.0 on Note 3 utilizes it and for 3ds it was way too big.
I’m thinking of buying 128gb for 40€ from Amazon.

  • hi v3.0

Ok now I know why they can’t put both games on one cartridge but the second game should’ve been the one on the cartridge instead..

  • Yolkghost

Oof, I was slightly defending the choice to make the second one digital before but a whopping 26 gigabytes? They should have just separately packaged the two.
