    Noooooo!
I made a muffin and ate it, just out of spite.

    • TanukiTrooper

I was Team Cake as well. I played for almost all four hours and I would say my teams won about 80% of the matches.

      • Kalmaro

Team cake was on point. I wasn’t joking about the muffins, I did make two. They were delicious.

    • Coonfoot

Muffin? Wouldn’t a cupcake make more sense? Or did you not have any frosting to work with?

      • Kalmaro

        No frosting sadly!

    • Lol Hey Kalmaro are you thinking join discord? We have some member from here, I just wondering if mind join us anyways here is the link https://discord.gg/Y3EzN9g if you don’t want it’s ok.

  • NintendoPSXTheSecond

And thus no one was shocked.

    • Ninty Kad

      Not really,
The solo wins were really close. Thought team cake would take both wins

      • I thought the same!! It would be a sweet victory for CakeTeam if that happened!

        • Tlink7

          Sweet, tasty, icing-covered victory… hmmmm…

  • Pepperkeet

So basically cake won but ice cream losers win because there’s more of them… alright.

    • Dascylus

If it didn’t count Ice Cream vs Ice Cream battles, then there really is no proper way to gauge who won or lost.

      • Battles against your team doesn’t count, only IceCream vs Cake battles. =)

      • TanukiTrooper

Basically the way it works in the proper game, A vs A matches or B vs B matches don’t count to the splatfest tally, but you still gain experience and coins so the match isn’t a total waste.

      • Triforce of the Gods

Those have never counted in Splatfests.

    • TanukiTrooper

Aye, Cake won 51% of matches overall, Ice Cream with 49%. which is fairly normal for Splatoon, the least popular one wins the most matches.

    • Cake only won the team battles. Wtf are you talking about? Don’t get so salty.

    • Triforce of the Gods

No? Popularity was the tie breaker. Cake only won team battles, ice cream won solo battles.

  • chancetime

Everyone knew it was coming when multiple Ice Cream battles were going on.

    • Exy

I got two matches, both against my own team, after which I couldn’t connect to any teammates at all. I have to wonder what they were thinking with this theme.

    • shani

Yeah I think 99% of all my matches were against Team Ice Cream. I remember only one match against Team Cake and I made it to Ice Cream Champion…

  • O.H. X-1990

I SCREAM…FOR ICE CREAM! Oh yeah, Ice Cream for the win!

  • Ninty Kad

Team Cake Put up a good fight

    • Dascylus

While most of Team Ice Cream fought themselves, therefore not contributing to the overall outcome at all (aside from popularity)

  • ジョシュ
  • Lol I knew Ice Cream would win, but in my time playing, I had lost half of the time to cake. I was a bit worried since Cake members get matches faster, so I thought they might have had more experience.

    • Eagle367

No need to worry. I was on team cake but we got way slow matches. Hell twice or thrice I fought my own team

    • DeltaPeng

It does vary, in past splatfests, for awhile there the minority teams would always be winning. Kind of just depends on what the really good players favor ;p

  • ChaosNocturne

such sore cakes but gotta remember there are alot more solo battles then team battles so you could have 1000 and 100 51% of 1000 is 510 but 47% of 100 is 47 so 557> 543

    • TanukiTrooper

That doesn’t matter, it wouldn’t be the way they would’ve scored it. Ice Creams are quite horrid winners too. 😛

    • DeltaPeng

Speaking of, anyone know what the difference between those team vs solo battles were? I just stuck with solo the whole time

  • Jaxon Holden

Wow, Team Cake! We held our own against insurmountable odds, and despite defeat, we put up a respectable fight… they only won by the skin of their teeth when it was projected to be a blowout.

Well done. Both Team Cake and Team Ice Cream…

  • Blanco8x8

Thank God, there’s no electoral vote.

  • Hidden Flare

Aww are the team cake players crying? Don’t worry have some ice cream :p

  • awng782

    Popularity: Cake – 24%, Ice Cream – 76%

    RIP Pearl…

  • Francesco Gentile

Yay! I knew we were going to win! But i have to compliment to Team Cake, always great fights! It was so much fun! Hype is real for 21st! By the way Pearl is not getting all that love seeing at vote results… #TeamIceCream #TeamMarina

    • Tlink7

Many a close fights I had against you creamians 😛 we may have lost this time…. but… I’LL BE BACK

  • ≈ KobobKC ≈

    GG!

  • Locky Mavo

Ice Cream is officially better than cake, it’s the LAW!

    • DeltaPeng

No arguments from me, ice cream all the way!

You know though, the biggest revelation I took from it all was?
      —Spoiler Alert————–

      —End Spoiler Alert————–

  • LOLametro

I honestly think if Pearl would‘ve represented Ice cream, it would have never been so popular.

IMO Nintendo shouldn’t have made her so „unattractive“. She will always lose now.

    • They’re both pretty ugly if we’re being honest here. They went a little overboard with them being squid people.

      • Kalmaro

Only one of them is a squid though…

        • They’re both Cephalopods though…and ugly.

          • Kalmaro

Well you *are* entitled to your opinion!

          • lol, I’m just messing around, no need to get super defensive or anything. If it’s any consolation, I don’t think they’re ugly by Splatoon standards, I just think that most Inklings look suspiciously similar to Zelda’s bokoblins.

          • CaptainPleb

Bokos are beautiful creatures you heartless jerk.

          • beautiful creatures…that are fun to blow up. >:D

          • Kalmaro

Lol, relax I’m not upset. I respect that you have a different opinion 🙂

    • Eagle367

What? I like pearl more than marina and I like cake better than ice cream so there you go. Your opinion is not the only opinion but ice cream is way more r even if e better and would have gotten that huge majority regardless because most people vote for their likes not their waifus

    • NeptuniasBeard

I think if cake was actually better than ice cream, ice cream wouldn’t have been as popular. But alas…

      • Eagle367

Correction have listened to pop music. The majority doesn’t care what’s better and are not very good judges as well. Cake is spongy heavenly bliss while ice cream is a milky cold toothache waiting to happen

  • Ardisan

A lot of people picked Ice Cream because Marina liked it and she is the “waifu” now. I thought this was meant for honest choices on whether you like 1 or the other. Its cool if people actually were honest but I rarely see people say “I pick ___ because it taste better imo”, instead I see “Pearl sucks, Marina rulez, I choose Ice Cream!”. IMO I wish Nintendo didn’t let the main characters mention what they liked but since this was done in Splatoon 1 (Which was fine since the 2 characters pretty much looked the same) it haves to stay.

And of course I am not saying everyone picked their choices because their waifus picked them, so don’t hunt me down saying “Stop being salty, u just mad because you lost the splatfest.”

    • Tlink7

Yup, I feel like most people pick the teams based on who’s heading it… I picked cake because I actually, slightly, prefer cake xD

    • Francesco Gentile

Honestly i could not choose between cake and ice cream. I just love both. I choose the new “Sea Sister” i liked the most because i could not on the Splatfest theme

    • Eagle367

That’s just the internet dude. Most splatoon players would have picked what they like to eat and aren’t looking for waifus

    • DeltaPeng

“Stop being salty, u just mad because you lost the splatfest.”

There, I said it. Couldn’t ruin your expectations now, could I? ;p

I way favor ice cream, and that Marina liked it too was just icing….on the already sweet, sweet ice cream.

      • Ardisan

“And of course I am not saying everyone picked their choices because their waifus picked them”

    • Donovan Bradley

I picked Ice Cream because I don’t like icing that much and cake is usually too sweet. I rarely even eat much of it for my birthday. My wife (not waifu) loves the texture of bread and said she would’ve voted for cake.

Marina is the more mature looking with all the skin showing and the eye makeup, so I’d say she’d probably easily appeal to more male gamers than Pearl (who looks like a baby down to the one tooth and white diaper). Plus, the shy Marina will probably have similar tastes as a character to most gamers over the confident Pearl. So, you’re probably going to be right Marina winning the popularity pole more often in the future, but not just for the reasons you think.

  • I wish I had a switch and could play this, but I’d choose cake. I like both, but cake is more versatile.

Don’t care of either Pearl or Marina.

    • Tlink7

Hope you get a Switch soon 😀

  • Petri

Best players of team Ice Cream spent their time fighting each others.
At start, I got some cake nublets, but afterwards I was almost exclusively fighting Team Ice Cream.

  • Coonfoot

It was tough for me to pick a team (I actually made my decision based on the topic rather than which character was on what side), but it looks like I picked the winner.

  • zelgadis greywords

they should scored the splafest like the last one in splatoon, explaining why this system for the new players. With this stupid system more than a half of the players dosnt count at all, because only 24% of the ice cream team can play against cake, the other 52% only see the matches that count and play against comrades

    • Donovan Bradley

I like this better. In Splatoon 1, the weights to wins broke the system to be a reverse popularity contest. The less popular team got more matches that actually counted, so they always won a higher percentage of team-vs-team matches. By averaging individual win rates, those wins against the same team aren’t totally discounted and people can’t game the system so easily.

So, while that team-vs-team win rate still went to the less popular team, Cake would need earn the win with individuals that are performing well to beat out the popularity tiebreaker.

      • zelgadis greywords

But that system has a extremelly big flaw, in this case what 52% of the players did not count at all. How can you tell me that the best players from the more popular team have matches against all of the players in team less popular? With the old system at least the popularity count more than in a 1-1 system and the less popular needed to counter that with an overwelming % of victories

  • Tlink7

I had a lot of fun and I’m definitely going to buy the full game 😀

  • shani

    Which region?
Or are these the results for all three regions combined (I participated in all of them)?

    • Bart

I was wondering that too, I guess this is Europe and US combined?

  • Bart

Well that was fun, I loved the two stages of the second half, especially the skate park one. Can’t wait for next week.

  • Ragnell

Yeah Team Cream! I only played for an hourish but when I wielded the dual guns we didn’t lose a match whch was around 10-12.

  • NeptuniasBeard

Dang, I was looking forward to this all week, but had to miss it. At least my team won.

And especially awesome that the game’s coming out in a few days

  • R.Z.

I’m pretty surprised team cake didn’t win in solo matches, every time I got pitted against them it was pretty rough compared to Ice cream vs. Ice cream which were (ironically) cakewalks. I’m not even sure my teams won more than half of these encounters against cake fans.
But that’s Splatfest biz as usual.

As an aside today I got myself a nice strawberry cone while walking home. I can’t fathom who’d be crazy enough to want cake instead of Ice cream …

    • Ardisan

Ice cream is more suited for summer time. I just prefer cake because I hardly ever eat it, making it a rare delicacy for me. Also I kinda got tired of ice cream.

  • DeltaPeng

A bit off topic, but in playing the first splatfest I enjoyed a lot of the banter between Pearl and Marina, but in the startup of the event itself, I felt like some of Marina’s dialogue sounded too Marie-like (too sarcastic and witty).

I originally pictured/hoped that Marina would be more shy/apologetic, with Pearl being the outgoing, brash, rebel kind of character. Callie and Marie had an interesting dynamic, of Callie starting up in some cheery / bubbly way, with Marie following up with some punny/witty followup remark. I thought it would’ve been interesting if they had flipped that around, with Pearl driving the conversation, but being the first to speak, with Marina following up, but again more in an apologetic or mature or tempering way to Pearl’s outbursts / blunt manner of speaking.

All to say, I do like Marina, but I hope she can really step out and be a distinct character, and not just end up being a Marie clone per personality/dialogue.
