Nintendo’s 85th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders took place last week, and is tradition, shareholders voted on the election of its directors. There aren’t any huge surprises as everyone was reelected, including president Shuntaro Furukawa and Shigeru Miyamoto.

The only new person here is Kazuhiko Hachiya. Nintendo believes he can “provide valuable advice” given his “broad experience and insight in the field of art, and as a software developer and business executive”. Nintendo says Hachiya “has a wide range of achievements, including the creation of various works of media art utilizing digital technology and the development of an email client, and has served in key positions at Tokyo University of the Arts.”

The full lineup of 2025 approval ratings from Nintendo’s 85th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders is as follows:

We also have the following results from last year:

  • Shigeru Miyamoto: 9,218,290 votes for (95.13%), 386,543 votes against, 36,637 no votes

  • Miyoko Demay: 9,587,014 votes for (98.94%), 45,991 votes against, 8,470 no votes

For the most part, the results were similar in 2025 and 2024. However, the one person who took a bit of a hit is Meledandri, the CEO of Illumination. We’re not quite sure why that is – we won’t be seeing the follow-up to The Super Mario Bros. Movie until next year and all signs point to it being on track. If the new film is another smash hit, perhaps his approval rating will go up at the next meeting.
