7 Star Metagross guide for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
The 7 Star Metagross Tera Raid Battle event for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is now live, and we’ve got a guide full of potential team setups. The event continues from now until May 11, but it returns for another run next weekend too. This Metagross is Tera Steel, and it boasts a terrifyingly powerful Meteor Mash that can raise its Attack stat afterward. No Pokemon is immune to Steel, either, so expect a tough battle.
7 Star Metagross guide
The 7 Star Metagross event is Tera Steel, which leaves it weak to Fighting, Ground, and Fire-type moves. Under normal circumstances, Metagross can use Meteor Mash, Zen Headbutt, Earthquake, and Thunder Punch. It puts its shield up at the beginning of the battle, which kills Contrary Skill Swap Malamar builds and prevents you from burning it with status moves. It also uses Hone Claws, Iron Defense, and Light Screen at set times, which makes 7 Star Metagross a particularly troublesome foe to counter. It also has the Clear Body Ability, so Chilling Water won’t lower its stats at all.
For solo strats, Landorus in its Incarnate form is a great pick. Give it a Shell Bell, a Bold nature, 252 EVs in Defense and Special Attack, and the moves Nasty Plot, Scorching Sands, Sandsear Storm, and Sandstorm. Make sure it has the Ability Sand Force and not Sheer Force. This is a really tough fight, and you essentially have to get lucky with a burn from Scorching Sands. Once you get the burn, you can use Nasty Plot and boost up three times. From there, spam Scorching Sands and Sandsear Storm and Terastallize into the Ground-type as soon as possible.
A good partner for Landorus would be Iron Defense + Body Press Bronzong with Reflect and a Light Clay. You can also give it Sandstorm if you want to give Landorus a little boost via its Sand Force Ability. Reflect works great here because 7 Star Metagross, importantly, does not have Psychic Fangs, which breaks and destroys Reflect and Light Screen. Bronzong will also need to Heal Cheer a few times to heal Landorus as it sets up Nasty Plot. Once it gets going, though, Bronzong can boost up with Iron Defense and contribute with some Tera Stellar Body Press attacks after the shield is broken. Make sure Reflect is always up so 7 Star Metagross doesn’t KO your Pokemon as they set up!
