7 Star Porygon2 guide for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
To celebrate the launch of Nintendo Switch 2, the 7 Star Porygon2 Tera Raid Battle event for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is live now. It’s fairly easy as far as 7-Star Raids go, but we’ve written a guide with potential checks and counters regardless. The event runs from now until June 16 alongside Porygon2 outbreaks with a boosted Shiny chance. This Porygon2 is Tera Normal, which only leaves it weak to Fighting-type attacks.
7 Star Porygon2 guide
As mentioned earlier, 7 Star Porygon2 is one of the easiest raid events we’ve had in a while. It’s Tera Normal, which leaves it weak to Fighting-type attacks. At the beginning of the match, Porygon2 uses Trick Room, but if you follow our recommendations for checks and counters, this is actually an advantage because it will make your Pokemon act first. Under normal circumstances, it can use Tri Attack, Psychic, Thunderbolt, and Ice Beam, so most of the danger from 7 Star Porygon2 is that it can potentially burn, paralyze, or freeze your team.
A great counter to Porygon2 is Iron Hands. For its item, choose a Sitrus Berry, and for its Nature, go with Brave. 252 EVs in Attack and Sp. Defense will do, and then give it the moves Belly Drum and Drain Punch – the rest don’t really matter much. Make sure Iron Hands is Tera Fighting, and then at the beginning of the match use Belly Drum to maximize its Attack stat. Then go for Drain Punch to restore its health and deal big damage. Do keep in mind that 7 Star Porygon2 eventually will clear your stat boosts, so you’ll need to Belly Drum again. For that reason, it might be a good idea to have a partner.
And the perfect partner for Iron Hands is Bronzong! Make sure it’s Tera Stellar, it has a Sassy Nature, and 252 EVs in HP and Sp. Defense. Give it the moves Iron Defense, Body Press, Safeguard, and Light Screen. For an item, you can either go with a Shell Bell for longevity or a Light Clay to extend the effects of Light Screen. At the beginning of the match, Bronzong can set Light Screen and Safeguard to pretty much invalidate everything 7 Star Porygon2 can do. That leaves Iron Hands free to set up. You might need to heal cheer as Bronzong a few times to keep Iron Hands’ health up, but overall this shouldn’t be too difficult at all. Then, catch Porygon2 in any Poke Ball you want – we went with a Great Ball to match the colors, but a Heal Ball is a decent match as well.
