The 7 Star Swampert Tera Raid Battle event for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is live now, and we have a guide ready to go. For this event, Swampert is running Tera Poison, meaning it’s weak to Ground- and Psychic-type attacks and not much else. The event runs from May 31 to June 2, and then it comes back between June 7 and June 9. We’ve gathered up a few counters you can prepare for this event here.

As mentioned earlier, this is a Tera Poison 7 Star Swampert, so it’s weak to Ground- and Psychic-type moves. It uses Muddy Water, Sludge Wave, Earthquake, Hydro Pump, and Liquidation. When 60% of the meter is left, it uses Yawn once.

One good counter to 7 Star Swampert in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is a Tera Psychic Slowbro with a moveset including Iron Defense, Nasty Plot, Stored Power, and Slack Off. The idea here is to start the battle by using three Iron Defenses and three Nasty Plots before you ever deal damage. From there, you can spam Stored Power until Swampert resets your stats. Boost up with Iron Defense and Nasty Plot and then continue using Stored Power until 7 Star Swampert goes down. If you’re starting to run low on health, you can use a Heal Cheer or Slack Off to fix that. In terms of items, you should definitely use a Covert Cloak. This avoids the poison change from Sludge Wave as well as the accuracy drop from Muddy Water. Slowbro’s Ability doesn’t matter too much here, as neither Oblivious nor Own Tempo really come into play against Swampert specifically.

Since Swampert is mixed, you can also choose to run Amnesia to increase Slowbro’s Special Defense instead. In that case, you’d want to use 252 HP EVs and 252 Defense EVs since you won’t have Iron Defense. If you do wind up running Iron Defense, invest in Sp. Defense instead of Defense. If you have a friend to help you, they can bring a Light Screen + Light Clay Bronzong plus Psychic, Safeguard (to prevent Yawn), and Helping Hand to even further increase the power of Slowbro’s Stored Power. Another option for your Slowbro is running both Amnesia and Iron Defense, forgoing Slack Off altogether to maximize Stored Power’s eventual damage output. This works best if you’re playing solo, because the timer doesn’t decrease when CPUs are knocked out (but it does when human players are). Slowbro is an incredibly good Pokemon to have on hand for raids thanks to its various stat-boosting moves.
