Switch successor GDC survey

The GDC 2024 State of the Game Industry report was published today ahead of next month’s event, and it brings along a little bit of Switch successor news.

Over 3,000 game developers were asked about their work and the industry for the report. With one question, we get to hear about which platform(s) they’re developing their current project for. 8 percent said that their game is for Switch’s successor. 18 percent said they’re working with Switch. Note that multiple options are allowed to be checked.

Another question asked which platform(s) developers are interested in currently. The Switch successor was chosen by 32 percent of participants. Switch itself naturally still has some pull, and 25 percent are interested in the console still.

Here’s a closer look:

Nintendo itself still hasn’t given any indication as to when it will be launching a new piece of hardware. At the start of March, Switch will be seven years old and entering its eighth year.
