Ubisoft wants Uplay on Wii U sometime after launch
Ubisoft’s Uplay service affords a variety of functionality. It acts as a digital distribution platform, as well as a multiplayer and achievement tracker that has been used in mos to the company’s recent games.
Uplay won’t be compatible with Wii U immediately. But according to Ubisoft president Yves Guillemot, he’s hoping it’ll be ready sometime after launch.
“We hope to have a good connection with their systems because Nintendo has been very open to us and allowed us to use our systems to communicate with our customers.”
Guillemot also confirmed the company’s interest in selling retail titles on the Wii U eShop. As soon as Nintendo makes the option available to publishers, Ubisoft will be on board.
“It’s a good system. As soon as it’s possible, we will do it. ”
Guillemot addressed one other interesting point. Polygon writes that “Ubisoft officials are also in discussions with retailers about selling download codes for full retail games in physical stores as well.”
According to Guillemot:
“It’s something we are discussing with the different retailers because we think sometimes when people go to the shop they want to get information on what game to buy and also how to play it and so on. So the retailers are really bringing something that can help them sell the right games so they have a good experience.”
