Zelda Wii to be playable at E3

Update: The information has been confirmed and we’ve added some details to this post.

One thing we know for sure about Zelda Wii is that it will be at this year’s E3. Eiji Aonuma previously said that he hoped the game would be at the event, but last week, Satoru Iwata said that the game will definitely be there, no questions asked. What hasn’t been clear, however, is if there will be a playable demo of the title.

Although, in the latest issue of Famitsu, Aonuma apparently told the magazine that the development team is preparing a demo for the event and that they are trying to release the game as soon as possible. This information hasn’t been confirmed, but if Nintendo truly intends to launch Zelda Wii this year, it would make sense for a demo to be available at E3.

Updated information below…

“I’d like to show something playable. We’ll work hard in order to get you playing it as soon as possible. We’ve progressed in development since last year. At present, the core areas have come into clear view. After actually making it compatible [with MotionPlus], it just feels so natural. Link’s sword and the controller that you’re holding become one. Of course [there will be gameplay that puts an emphasis on the ability to swing your sword freely].

– The game will be a Wii MotionPlus-exclusive title
– There may be some enemies in the game that, based on the way you fight them, will solve puzzles
– The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks almost was delayed to 2010, the staff thought early on they would need more time, but since Nintendo didn’t want Spirit Tracks and Zelda Wii to overlap, the team concentrated on releasing the game last year
